  1. 1. The Role of Stat1 in Retinoic Acid-induced Myelomonocytic Differentiation of Human Leukemia Cells

    Author : Anna Dimberg; Ivo Touw; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; Stat1; ATRA; U-937; myeloid; differentiation; cell cycle; growth arrest; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Pathology; patologi;

    Abstract : All-trans retinoic acid (ATRA), a biologically active metabolite of vitamin A, is a powerful inducer of terminal differentiation and growth arrest of several myeloid cell lines in vitro. Although the efficacy of ATRA as an anti-cancer drug has been demonstrated by the successful treatment of acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL), knowledge concerning the molecular mechanisms directing ATRA-induced differentiation and cell cycle arrest of myeloid cells is lacking. 2. 2. Molecular Regulation of Inflammation and Angiogenesis in the Tumor Microenvironment

    Author : Lothar Dieterich; Anna Dimberg; Lena Claesson-Welsh; Jonas Fuxe; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; stroma; glioma; alphaB-crystallin; HSPB5; cryab; myeloid cells; Morphology; cell biology; pathology; Morfologi; cellbiologi; patologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Molekylär medicin; Molecular Medicine;

    Abstract : Tumor growth and progression not only depend on properties of the malignant cells but are strongly influenced by the tumor microenvironment. The tumor stroma consists of various cell types such as inflammatory cells, endothelial cells and fibroblasts, which can either inhibit or promote tumor growth. READ MORE

  3. 3. Vascular targeting for enhanced cancer immunotherapy

    Author : Maria Georganaki; Anna Dimberg; Sara Mangsbo; Lena Claesson-Welsh; Wolf Hervé Fridman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cancer immunotherapy; tumor vasculature; endothelial activation; IDO1; ELTD1; tertiary lymphoid organ; Biologi; Biology;

    Abstract : Induced angiogenesis and chronic inflammation are major components of tumor immunosuppression. The scope of this thesis is to understand the role of the vasculature in anti-tumor immunity and thereby to improve cancer immunotherapy. READ MORE

  4. 4. Endothelial activation and inflammation in the tumor microenvironment

    Author : Hua Huang; Anna Dimberg; William C. Aird; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; tumor angiogenesis; endothelial activation; leukocyte recruitment; VEGF-A; αB-crystallin; ELTD1;

    Abstract : Tumors are composed not only of malignant cells, but also of various types of normal cells, including vascular cells and infiltrating immune cells, which drive tumor development and progression. The tumor vasculature is abnormal and dysfunctional due to sustained tumor angiogenesis driven by high levels of pro-angiogenic factors. READ MORE

  5. 5. Alzheimer's Disease Neuropathological Change and neuronal and glial alterations in patients with idiopathic Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus

    Author : Sylwia Libard; Irina Alafuzoff; Anna Dimberg; Per Kristian Eide; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; idiopathic Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus; Alzheimer’s disease; amyloid β; hyperphosphorylated τ; Patologi; Pathology;

    Abstract : Alzheimer’s disease Neuropathological Change (ADNC), i.e. amyloid β (Aβ) and hyperphosphorylated τ (HPτ), is seen in excess in the brains of subjects with AD. READ MORE
