  1. 1. Colloidal carrier substances : Properties and impact on trace metal distribution in natural waters

    Author : Anna Ledin; Linköpings universitet; []

    Abstract : Colloidal (0,45 J.Im) are important constituents in the aquatic environment, due to their impact on the mobility and bioavailability of associated components (e.g. metals). READ MORE

  2. 2. More or Less IgE : Therapeutic Vaccines, Adjuvants and Genes and Their Effect on IgE Levels

    Author : Anna Ledin; Lars Hellman; Kjell-Olov Grönvik; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell and molecular biology; IgE; Immunoglobulin; Atopic allergy; Vaccine; Adjuvant; Dog; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : Immunoglobulin E (IgE) is an important mediator in atopic allergies. This thesis describes the development of a therapeutic vaccine against IgE and its effects in rats and dogs. The development of an assay to determine IgE levels in dogs, and the finding of a chromosome region in rats that affects IgE levels are also reported. READ MORE

  3. 3. Use and Development of Diffusive Samplers to Analyse the Fate of Polycyclic Aromatic Compounds, Polychlorinated Biphenyls and Pharmaceuticals in Wastewater Treatment Processes

    Author : Lijana Augulyte; Patrik L. Andersson; Anna Ledin; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; bioavailable; biologically activated carbon; PRCs; sampling rate; SPMD; sorption; wastewater treatment; diffusive passive samplers; human pharmaceuticals; municipal sewage treatment plant; organic micropollutants; polycyclic aromatic compounds; PAHs; PCBs; POCIS; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi;

    Abstract : The efficiency of wastewater treatment systems is commonly measured by the reductions of parameters such as biological oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD) and total suspended solids (TSS) and/or reductions in levels of selected macro compounds (e.g. long-chained hydrocarbons and inorganic compounds). 4. 4. Characterisation of organic materials from incineration residues

    Author : Inger Johansson; Anna Ledin; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; ash; biofuel; waste; residues; MSWI; incineration; leaching; organic carbon; organic acids; polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons; PAH; Chemistry; Kemi; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : The organic material present in incineration residues has been examined. Water leachable organic material was characterised and classified into hydrophilic and hydrophobic acids, neutrals and bases. Changes of the organic material during weathering were followed. READ MORE
