  1. 1. Degradable copolymers in additive manufacturing: controlled fabrication of pliable scaffolds

    Author : Astrid Ahlinder; Anna Finne Wistrand; T. Christian Gasser; Tiziana Fuoco; Minna Kellomäki; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fiber- och polymervetenskap; Fibre and Polymer Science;

    Abstract : Inom vävnadsregenerering är produktionen av väldefinieradematriser med en porös arkitektur av nedbrytbara polymerer av stortintresse, dessa kan nu skapas genom additiva tillverkningsprocesser. Vidadditiv tillverkning krävs ett smalt munstycke för att skapa detaljrikastrukturer och detta ställer krav på att de reologiska egenskapernaanpassat. READ MORE

  2. 2. Microwave heating effects on degradation and migration of additives from polypropylene packaging

    Author : Jonas Alin; Minna Hakkarainen; Jiebing Li; Anna Finne Wistrand; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi;

    Abstract : The effect of different food types, polymer qualities and microwaves on the overall and specific migration during microwave heating of plastic packaging was investigated to better understand the packaging-food interactions and the effect of microwaves on food packaging. This work focuses on the migration of chemical compounds to food simulants from commercially available polypropylene packages. READ MORE

  3. 3. Agro-Waste Derived Additives for Polylactide and Tapioca Starch

    Author : Edwin Azwar; Minna Hakkarainen; Anna Wistrand; Christian Glandfils; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Agro-industrial waste; wood flour; rice bran; polylactide; starch; biomass; degradation; SRA - E-vetenskap SeRC ; SRA - E-Science SeRC ;

    Abstract : Development of materials from renewable resources is one of the big challenges facing our world. In this thesis agro-industrial waste derivatives were developed and evaluated as additives for two common renewable polymer matrices, polylactide (PLA) and starch. Two waste products, wood flour (WF) and rice bran (RB) were evaluated in different forms. READ MORE

  4. 4. Thiol−ene Coupling of Renewable Monomers : at the forefront of bio-based polymeric materials

    Author : Mauro Claudino; Mats K. G. Johansson; Mats Jonsson; Anna Wistrand; Sven Göthe; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Thiol-ene chemistry; monounsaturated fatty-acids; renewable resources; cis trans-isomerization; photopolymerization; networks; polyesters; thermal viscoelastic properties; thin-films; unsaturated macro lactones; coatings;

    Abstract : Plant derived oils bear intrinsic double-bond functionality that can be utilized directly for the thiol–ene reaction. Although terminal unsaturations are far more reactive than internal ones, studies on the reversible addition of thiyl radicals to 1,2-disubstituted alkenes show that this is an important reaction. 5. 5. Polyester scaffold: Material design and cell-protein-material interaction

    Author : Staffan Dånmark; Anna Finne-Wistrand; Ann-Christine Albertsson; Kamal Mustafa; Pentti Tengvall; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Tissue engineering has emerged as a valid approach for the regeneration and restoration of bone defects. The concept of bone tissue engineering includes degradable scaffolds, osteogenic cells and osteoinductive growth factors either alone or in any combination of these three. READ MORE
