  1. 1. Translational Aspects of Erythropoietin Receptor and Hypoxia-Inducible Factors in Breast Cancer

    Author : Anna-Maria Larsson; Institutionen för translationell medicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Breast Cancer; Anemia; Hypoxia; Erythropoietin EPO ; EPO receptor EPOR ; Estrogen Receptor ER ; Hypoxia-Inducible Factors HIFs ; Tamoxifen Response; Proliferation;

    Abstract : The main function of erythropoietin (EPO) is in hematopoiesis where EPO stimulates increased proliferation, survival and differentiation of erythrocytic precursors in response to hypoxia. The EPO effect is mediated via binding to the EPO receptor (EPOR), which induces activation of different intracellular signaling pathways. READ MORE

  2. 2. Mycobacterium tuberculosis and HIV coinfection : Effects on innate immunity and strategies to boost the immune response

    Author : Anna-Maria Andersson; Robert Blomgran Julinder; Marie Larsson; Olle Stendahl; Susanna Brighenti; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Tuberculosis (TB) still remains a big threat today, being the leading cause of death by a single infectious agent. The TB epidemic is fueled by HIV along with the increasing drug-resistance which prolongs the already long treatment duration and decreases the success rate for curing TB. READ MORE

  3. 3. Impact of glucose feed rate on productivity and recombinant protein quality in Escherichia coli

    Author : Anna Maria Sandén; Gen Larsson; Gunnar Lidén; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Escherichia coli; recombinant protein production; fed-batch; feed profile; specific growth rate; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Abstract : The goal of this work was to contribute to the fed-batch process optimisation task by deriving parameters that have considerable impact on productivity as well as product quality The chosen parameters were I) the design of the glucose feed profile, II) the choice of induction strategy, with respect to the method of addition, and III) the time of the induction, with respect to the specific glucose consumption rate.The present fed-batch experiments using the lacUV5-promoter, for production of b-galactosidase, have shown that a high glucose feed rate gives a specific production rate, qp, that is twice as high, after induction, compared to a feed rate that is 2.
