  1. 1. Evaluation of Live Loudness Meters

    Author : Jon Allan; Jan Berg; Scott Norcross; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; loudness; loudness metering; live loudness meter; loudness meter; audio level alignment; R 128; hörstyrka; mätning av hörstyrka; loudnessmätare; hörstyrkemätare; nivåjustering; R 128; upplevd ljudnivå; Audio Technology; Ljudteknik;

    Abstract : Discrepancies in loudness (i.e. sensation of audio intensity) has been of great concern within the broadcast community. For television broadcast, disparities in audio levels have been rated the number one cause to annoyance by the audience. READ MORE

  2. 2. Expression in Live Coding: Gestural Interaction for Machine Musicianship

    Author : Georgios Diapoulis; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; music perception; live programming; liveness; music interaction; live coding; music information retrieval; gestural control; musical interfaces; expressive interaction; music performance;

    Abstract : This thesis is centered on the performance practice of musical live coding, which can be described as on-the-fly decision-making for computer music performance and blurs the lines between programming languages and computer interfaces. I specifically focus on live coding as a human activity based on serial skilled actions, and I discuss how we can interact gesturally with interfaces that are modified dynamically. READ MORE

  3. 3. Aesthetics of being together

    Author : Stoffel Kuenen; Erik Stolterman; Johan Redström; Dag Svanæs; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; design; interaction design; design theory; aesthetics; aesthetics of being together; aesthetics of interaction; design practices; design research practice; research through design; practice based research; constructive design research; social media; technological mediation; social platforms; digital interactions; social interaction; group interaction; social dynamics; perceptual crossing; intersubjectivity; Aesthetics; estetik; design; design;

    Abstract : Design deals with matters of aesthetics. Historically, aesthetics in industrial design refers to the designed artifact: aesthetics of objects. When designed artifacts include digital technologies, aesthetics in design refers to what happens between people and artifacts as well: aesthetics of interaction. READ MORE

  4. 4. Perspective Correct Hand-held Augmented Reality for Improved Graphics and Interaction

    Author : Ali Samini; Karljohan Lundin Palmerius; Lucio Tommaso De Paolis; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : With Augmented Reality, also termed AR, a view of the real world is augmented by superimposing computer-generated graphics, thereby enriching or enhancing the perception of the reality. Today, lots of applications benefit from AR in different areas, such as education, medicine, navigation, construction, gaming, and multiple other areas, using primarily head-mounted AR displays and AR on hand-held smart devices. 5. 5. Sparse Voxel DAGs for Shadows and for Geometry with Colors

    Author : Dan Dolonius; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; directed acyclic graph; octree; compression; voxel; geometry; shadows; colors;

    Abstract : Triangles are probably the most common format for shapes in computer graphics. Nevertheless, when high detail is desired, Sparse Voxel Octrees (SVO) and Sparse Voxel Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAG) can be considerably more memory efficient. One of the first practical use cases for DAGs was to use the structure to represent precomputed shadows. READ MORE
