  1. 1. Post activation potentiation : Modulating factors and mechanisms for muscle performance

    Author : Paulo Gago; Ekblom Maria; Anton Arndt; Nicola Maffiuletti; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Potentiation; twitch; triceps surae; knee angle; stiffnes; length changes; electromechanical delay; Medicin Teknik; Medicine Technology;

    Abstract : Introduction: Acute enhancements of muscle contractile properties and performance subsequent to a maximal or near maximal conditioning contraction are often termed post activation potentiation (PAP). Although still controversial, PAP is commonly linked to enhancements in the myosin regulatory light chain phosphorylation, leading to improvements in the excitation–contraction coupling. READ MORE

  2. 2. Muscular forces from static optimization

    Author : Sofia Heintz; Anders Eriksson; Elena Gutierrez-Farewik; Anton Arndt; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; movement analysis; muscle forces; static optimization; Other engineering mechanics; Övrig teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : At every joint there is a redundant set of muscle activated during movement or loading of the system. Optimization techniques are needed to evaluate individual forces in every muscle. The objective in this thesis was to use static optimization techniques to calculate individual muscle forces in the human extremities. READ MORE

  3. 3. Bilateral kinetic, kinematic, neuromechanical, and muscle-tendon properties of habitual runners

    Author : Tiago Canal Jacques; Anton Arndt; Rodrigo Bini; John Rasmussen; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicin Teknik; Medicine Technology;

    Abstract : Achilles tendon overuse-related injuries are a frequent problem to habitual runners. Such injuries occur more often unilaterally and its etiology is associated to overloading of the tendon tissue. Inter-limb differences during running are a possible cause for overload due to eventual differences in the mechanical loading provided to each limb. READ MORE

  4. 4. Towards evidence-based classification in para-cycling

    Author : Johanna Liljedahl; Anton Arndt; Anna Bjerkefors; Carla F J Nooijen; Jan Lexell; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cycling; para sport; Paralympics; performance; impairment; Medicin Teknik; Medicine Technology;

    Abstract : The aim of classification in Paralympic sport is to minimize the impact of impairment on the outcome of competition. The aim of this thesis was to investigate the impact of different types of impairments on para-cycling performance to develop an evidence-based classification system in the para-cycling C (bicycling) and T (tricycling) divisions. 5. 5. Performance determinants and classification in paracanoe

    Author : Johanna Rosén; Anna Bjerkefors; Anton Arndt; Vicky Tolfrey; Carl Payton; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; canoe; outrigger; para sport; disability; impairment; Paralympics; kinematics; kinetics; Medicin Teknik; Medicine Technology;

    Abstract : Valid classification systems are vital for Paralympic sports in order to minimise the impact of impairment on sports performance. To achieve valid classification, each Paralympic sport must develop evidence-based classification systems by examining the impact of impairment on key performance determinants. READ MORE
