  1. 1. Cyclin A1 Expression and Regulation in Hematopoietic and Leukemic Cells

    Author : Jenny Ekberg; Malmö Patologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cancer; General pathology; pathological anatomy; Patologi allmän ; patologisk anatomi; onkologi; Cytologi; cancerology; oncology; Cytology; AML; cyclin A1; apoptosis; cell cycle regulation;

    Abstract : Increased expression of the cell cycle regulatory protein cyclin A1 has previously been detected in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and targeted overexpression of cyclin A1 in a transgenic mouse model initiated AML. The aim of this thesis was to further study the expression and regulation of cyclin A1 in hematopoietic cells. READ MORE

  2. 2. Localisation of Protein Kinase C in Apoptosis and Neurite Outgrowth

    Author : Anna Schultz; Institutionen för translationell medicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; onkologi; cancer; Medicine human and vertebrates ; Medicin människa och djur ; Cytology; oncology; cancerology; Cytologi; Prostate Cancer; Neuroblastoma; Ceramide; Golgi Apparatus; Neurite outgrowth; Apoptosis; Protein Kinase C; C1 domain;

    Abstract : Protein kinase C (PKC) is a family of serine/threonine kinases, which are subgrouped into classical (a, bI, bII, g), novel (d, e, h, q) and atypical (z, i/l) isoforms. One major aim of this thesis work was to investigate if altered levels of PKC isoforms influence the apoptotic responses of malignant cell-lines. READ MORE

  3. 3. Pancreatic Cancer. Experimental and Clinical Studies

    Author : David Ljungman; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pancreatic neoplasms; Proteasome inhibitors; Apoptosis; Intracellular signaling peptides and proteins; Epidermal growth factor receptor; Pancreaticoduodenectomy; Cost and cost analysis; Quality-adjusted life years; Copy number variations; Comparative genomic hybridization;

    Abstract : Background: Pancreatic cancer is one of the most lethal of known cancers and the only treatment with possibility of cure is surgery. The costs associated with treatment of pancreatic cancer are reputably high, both in terms of morbidity and financially. READ MORE

  4. 4. Head and Neck Cancer : Factors Affecting Tumour Growth

    Author : Kaarina Sundelin; Elisabeth Paulette-Hultcrantz; Karin Öllinger; Karin Roberg; Hans Gustafsson; Linköpings universitet; []

    Abstract : Head and neck cancer is the fifth most common cancer worldwide with an estimated annual global incidence of over 500 000 cases. These malignant tumours develop in the mucosal linings of the upper respiratory tract or in the salivary glands. The most common sites are in the oral cavity and larynx. READ MORE

  5. 5. Regulation of neutrophil apoptosis

    Author : Maria Alvarado-Kristensson; Malmö Molekylär patologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; General pathology; pathological anatomy; Patologi allmän ; patologisk anatomi; PP2A; p38 MAPK; caspases; signal transduction; inflammation; Apoptosis; human neutrophils;

    Abstract : The human neutrophil is the most abundant granulocyte and the major type of cell involved in an acute inflammatory response. Neutrophils are armed with various systems of enzymes, that can find and kill pathogens, but unfortunately, these "weapons" cannot distinguish between the host tissues and the "invaders. READ MORE
