  1. 16. Sulphide-rich tailings remediated by soil cover : evaluation of cover efficiency and tailings geochemistry, Kristineberg, northern Sweden

    Author : Erik Carlsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Geology; Tillämpad geologi;

    Abstract : The efficiency of soil cover as a method of remediation of sulphide-rich tailings has been studied at an impoundment at the Kristineberg mine, Northern Sweden. Two variations of soil cover were used in the remediation. The major part of the impoundment was covered with a 1.0 m layer of till where the groundwater table was shallow. READ MORE

  2. 17. Iron isotopes in aquatic systems

    Author : Sarah Conrad; Johan Ingri; Michael Bau; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Geochemistry; Tillämpad geokemi;

    Abstract : The cycling of iron (Fe) is a key component for understanding water quality and biogeochemical processes. It serves as mediator during biotic and abiotic processes, as electron acceptor during the degradation of organic matter, as surface for trace element and organic matter adsorption, and is necessary for primary production processes. 3. 18. Estimation of snow wetness using multi-offset ground penetrating radar : towards more accurate estimates of snow water equivalent

    Author : Nils Granlund; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Tillämpad geofysik; Applied Geophysics; Applied Geology; Tillämpad geologi;

    Abstract : Measurements of snow water equivalent (SWE) constitute an important input to hydrological models used to predict snowmelt runoffs. The new generation of such models use distributed snow data, including distribution of SWE, as input, and rely on it for calibration and validation. READ MORE

  4. 19. Cementation of cyanidation tailings – effects on the release of As, Cu, Ni and Zn

    Author : Roger Hamberg; Christian Maurice; Lena Alakangas; Mamadou Fall; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Applied Geochemistry; Tillämpad geokemi;

    Abstract : Knowledge about mineralogy and chemical composition in sulfidic tailings is essential to predict how tailings management may affect the future leachate quality. At a gold mine in the north of Sweden, gold was extracted from inclusions in arsenopyrite and pyrrhotite by the use of cyanide. READ MORE

  5. 20. Geochemical Characterization of Historical W, Cu and F Skarn Tailings at Yxsjöberg, Sweden : With focus on scheelite weathering and tungsten (W) mobility

    Author : P.B Lina Hällström; Lena Alakangas; Olof Martinsson; Carlos Ayora; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Tillämpad geokemi; Applied Geochemistry;

    Abstract : Little attention has been paid to tailings from skarn ore deposits and their environmental impact, even though they can contain elevated content of elements of potential concern. Historical skarn tailings from a former scheelite mine at Yxsjöberg, Sweden, containing e.g. READ MORE
