  1. 1. Some Contributions to Description and Validation of the Extreme Value Distribution

    Author : MirNabi PirouziFard; Statistiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; weighted least squares estimator.; probability plot; power of tests; extreme value distribution; variances and covariances; goodness-of-fit tests; order statistics; Approximations of means;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the validation and description of the Gumbel distribution. Since this is a scale and location parameter distribution, the generalized least squares regression of the order statistics on the expected values can be used, without the necessity of iteration, to obtain the best linear unbiased estimates of the parameters. 2. 2. From Machine Arithmetic to Approximations and back again : Improved SMT Methods for Numeric Data Types

    Author : Aleksandar Zeljic; Philipp Ruemmer; Christoph M. Wintersteiger; Yi Wang; Armin Biere; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SMT; Model construction; Approximations; floating-point arithmetic; machine arithmetic; bit-vectors; Computer Science; Datavetenskap;

    Abstract : Safety-critical systems, especially those found in avionics and automotive industries, rely on machine arithmetic to perform their tasks: integer arithmetic, fixed-point arithmetic or floating-point arithmetic (FPA). Machine arithmetic exhibits subtle differences in behavior compared to the ideal mathematical arithmetic, due to fixed-size representation in memory. READ MORE

  3. 3. Heat Transfer Prediction of In Service Welding in a Forced Flow of Fluid

    Author : Per Lindström; Lars-Erik Svensson; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Sjöfartsvetenskap; Maritime Science;

    Abstract : An algorithm for heat transfer prediction of in-service welding operations in a forcedflow of fluid is presented. The algorithm presented is derived from Rosenthal’s 3D heatflow equation and boundary layer approximations. READ MORE

  4. 4. Thermomechanical Modelling of Tribological Systems

    Author : Niclas Strömberg; Alain Curnier; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : The present thesis concerns the thermomechanical modelling of contact, friction and wear. Within a framework of continuum thermodynamics, Signorini's contact conditions, Coulomb's law of friction and Archard's law of wear are derived by means of a free energy and a dissipation potential. 5. 5. Development and Validation of a Numerical Tool for the Aeromechanical Design of Turbomachinery

    Author : María Angélica Mayorca; Torsten Fransson; Damian Vogt; Eric Seinturier; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; aeromechanical design; turbomachinery; numerical tool; reduced order modeling; mistuning; ROM; aero-structure coupling; CFD; FEM; methods; Mechanical energy engineering; Mekanisk energiteknik;

    Abstract : In aeromechanical design one of the major rules is to operate under High Cyclic Fatigue (HCF) margins and away from flutter. The level of dynamic excitations and risk of HCF can be estimated by performing forced response analyses from blade row interaction forces or Low Engine Order (LEO) excitation mechanisms. READ MORE
