1. Analysis of Dipole and Patch Antennas in Cylindrical Structures
Abstract : This thesis deals with the analysis of dipoles, patches, and aperture coupled patches located in an infinitely long cylindrical structure with arbitrary cross-section. The analysis exploits the two-dimensional nature of the structure by expanding all fields and currents in spatial harmonics along the cylinder axis, and solving the subsequent spectral two-dimensional problems by the moment method. 2. Dosimetry and radiation quality in fast-neutron radiation therapy : A study of radiation quality and basic dosimetric properties of fast-neutrons for external beam radiotherapy and problems associated with corrections of measured charged particle cross-sections
Abstract : The dosimetric properties of fast-neutron beams with energies ≤80 MeV were explored using Monte Carlo techniques. Taking into account transport of all relevant types of released charged particles (electrons, protons, deuterons, tritons, 3He and α particles) pencil-beam dose distributions were derived and used to calculate absorbed dose distributions. 3. A Method for Dispersive Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar Analysis Applied to High Strain Rate Testing of Spruce Wood
READ MORE

4. A Network Model Applied to Cellulose Fibre Materials
Abstract : A network mechanics model for analysis of materials made of dry-shaped cellulose fibres is proposed. In terms of the model, the network is composed of fibres of arbitrary distribution in length, curvature, cross-section. stiffness and strength. The fibres are arranged in a random structure according to an arbitrary orientation distribution. READ MORE

5. Analysis and design of hydraulic cylinder seals
Abstract : Hydraulic cylinder seal performance is studied experimentally and theoretically. The seal performance is discussed in terms of friction force and oil leakage, which are due to the oil film build-up in the seal contact. The theoretical analysis is based both on calculated and measured contact pressure distributions. READ MORE
