  1. 1. Modelling of cathode-plasma interaction in short high-intensity electric arc : Application to Gas Tungsten Arc Welding

    Author : Alireza Javidi Shirvan; Isabelle Choquet; Håkan Nilsson; Armelle Vardelle; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electric arc discharge; sheath; pre-sheath; Knudsen layer; doped refractory cathode; arc-cathode coupling; Gas Tungsten Arc simulation; OpenFOAM.; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Abstract : In arc welding the quality of the weld is strongly influenced by the thermal history of the workpiece which is itself governed by the electric arc heat source. The models for predicting weld properties thus need a good evaluation of the distribution of the heat input from thearc to the workpiece. READ MORE

  2. 2. Cold lap formation in Gas Metal Arc Welding of steel : An experimental study of micro-lack of fusion defects

    Author : Peigang Li; Lars-Erik Svensson; Norbert Enzinger; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Tandem GMAW; old laps; lack of fusion; Spatter; Overlap; Overflow; Manganese; Silicon; Oxides; Temperature; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Abstract : Cold laps are defined as micro-lack of fusion defects at the weld toe more or less parallel to the surface of the parent plate. These defects are known to negatively influence the fatigue properties of weldments. Previous studies suggest that cold lap formation can not be avoided completely in Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW). 3. 3. On the polymer-based nanocomposites for electrical switching applications

    Author : Venkatesh Doddapaneni; Muhammet Sadaka Toprak; Hans Edin; Rudolf Gati; Matti Ilmari Lehtonen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Polymer-based nanocomposites; Inorganic nanoparticles; Electrical arcs; Circuit breakers; Ablation Outgassing; Arc interruption capability; PMMA; CuO; Fe3O4; ZnO; Au; Radiative energy; Electric power; Arc temperature.; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : Recent research demonstrated that polymer based nanocomposites (PNCs) have been engineered in order to improve the arc interruption capability of the circuit breakers. PNCs are the combination of nano-sized inorganic nanoparticles (NPs) and polymers, opened up new developments in materials science and engineering applications. READ MORE

  4. 4. Cathodic arc deposition process

    Author : Muhammad Bilal Syed; Magnus Odén; Jianqiang Zhu; Lars Hultman; Zdeněk Hubička; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : This thesis aims to expand the knowledge of fundamental mechanisms that govern the cathodic arc process. The first part of this thesis explores and explains the correlations between a rather unexplored process parameter (i.e. cathode microstructure) and the microstructure of the coatings. READ MORE

  5. 5. High Temperature Corrosion in Fluidised Bed Environment

    Author : Anna Nafari; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CFB; coatings; Ni and iron based alloys; HCl; SO2; loop seal; High temperature corrosion; erosion corrosion test rig; surface characterization and temperature gradient;

    Abstract : Successful material selection for power plants is the result of understanding the environment in each boiler. The boiler environment is affected by fuel chemistry, co-firing, process control and deposits as well as boiler type, design, size and load. READ MORE
