    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Archaeological prospection; geophysical survey; Sweden; Ground-penetrating radar; magnetometry; Slingram; magnetic susceptibility; Neolithic; Migration period; Viking Age; Middle Ages; Öland; Gotland; Sigtuna; Lapland; Archaeological Science; laborativ arkeologi;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis has been to investigate the benefits, pitfalls and possibilities of using geophysical methods in archaeological projects. This is exemplified by surveys carried out at archaeological sites in different geographical and chronological contexts. READ MORE

  2. 2. Prehistoric diet transitions : an archaeological perspective

    Author : Kerstin Lidén; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES;

    Abstract : This is a study of prehistoric diet transitions within the Baltic area during the Stone Age. More specific the changes in diet expected to be found when hunter-gatherer subsistence is changed into a farming subsistence. This transition should be able to detect in the bone material as changes in trace element amounts and changes in stable isotopes. READ MORE

    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Archaeology; 3D digital methods; archaeological report; archaeological digital curation; digital humanities; semantic web; online publishing systems; FAIR data;

    Abstract : This PhD thesis examines how application of 3D visualization and related digital analytical tools is having a transformative impact on archaeological practice via improvement of visual-spatial thinking and the strengthening of conceptual understanding. However, the deployment of these new digital methods is essentially still at an experimental stage. READ MORE

  4. 4. Integrated geophysical-geochemical methods for archaeological prospecting

    Author : Kjell Persson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geophysics; geophysical; geochemical; prospecting; archaeology; electric; magnetometric; Geofysik; Geophysics; Geofysik;

    Abstract : A great number of field measurements with different methods and instruments were conducted in attempts to develop a method for an optimal combination of various geochemical and geophysical methods in archaeological prospecting. The research presented in this thesis focuses on a study of how different anthropogenic changes in the ground can be detected by geochemical and geophysical mapping and how the results can be presented.
