21. Effects of arsenic trioxide and hypoxia in multidrug-resistant neuroblastoma
Abstract : Neuroblastoma is a childhood tumour derived from the sympathetic nervous system. Although most children with neuroblastoma initially respond to treatment, approximately 50% of these patients relapse with multidrug-resistant tumours. Arsenic trioxide (As2O3) has been used for centuries to treat different clinical disorders including malignancies. READ MORE

22. Low-Coordinate Organopnictogens : Synthesis and Optoelectronic properties
Abstract : This thesis work is based on the development of novel organopnictogen compounds and the exploration of their potential applications in organic electronics. In particular, incorporation of phosphorus and arsenic into π-conjugated systems is known to modify the optoelectronic properties. READ MORE

23. Arsenic in Alluvial Aquifers in the Meghna Basin, Southeastern Bangladesh : Hydrogeological and Geochemical Characterisation
Abstract : Elevated levels of arsenic (As) in Bangladesh groundwater has emerged as a massive calamity exposing a large population to the risk of As toxicity from drinking water sources and agricultural products. Holocene alluvial aquifers in the delta- and flood-plains of the Ganges-Brahmaputra- Meghna (GBM) river systems are severely affected by high levels of As in groundwater. READ MORE

24. Peat Coated with Iron Oxides : Purification of Metal(loid)-Contaminated Water and Treatment of the Spent Adsorbent
Abstract : In Sweden due to the industrial activities, such as wood impregnation, multiple point sources of arsenic (As) contamination in soil and water bodies are scattered over the country. Metals, such as chromium (Cr), copper (Cu), lead (Pb), nickel (Ni), cadmium (Cd) or zinc (Zn) at varying concentrations are usually present as well. READ MORE

25. Water treatment using cryogel-based adsorbents - Targeting environmental pollutants at low concentrations
Abstract : The lack of safe, clean water is strongly linked to poverty, underdevelopment and poor health. Water is needed not only to sustain life, but to produce food and in industrial processes. Anthropogenic pollution and natural events can jeopardize access to safe water. READ MORE
