  1. 1. Temporomandibular joint disc position in the sagittal and coronal plane. A macroscopic and radiological study

    Author : Jonas Liedberg; [1996]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; tomography x-ray computed; temporomandibular joint diseases; magnetic resonance imaging; disc position; arthrography; diagnostic outcome; Odontology; stomatology; Odontologi;

    Abstract : TMJ autopsy specimens were studied macroscopically and arthrographically with respect to the disc position in the sagittal and the coronal planes. After single-contrast arthrography of the lower joint space, the specimens were cryosectioned. The arthrographic findings were correlated with the morphological findings. READ MORE

  2. 2. Legg-Calvé-Perthes´ disease. Synovitis, cartilage, remodeling

    University dissertation from Department of Orthopaedics, Lund University

    Author : Göran Eckerwall; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [1996]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Stromelysin; Sonography; Remodeling; Proteoglycan; Pressure; Osteotomy; MRI; MR imaging; Metaphysis; Legg-Calvé-Perthes; Histology; Hip; Arthrography; Child; Synovitis; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Abstract : This thesis evaluates and correlates the findings in a series of children with Legg-Calvé-Perthes´ Disease at the Departments of Orthopedics, University Hospitals in Lund, Sweden and Odense, Denmark during 1984-1993. It focuses on the importance of synovitis and its effect on the cartilage, on the shape of the femoral head in the early phases of LCPD and on femoral head remodeling after proximal femoral varus derotation osteotomy. 3. 3. Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Legg-Calvé-Perthes Disease

    University dissertation from Department of Radiology, Lund University

    Author : Peter Hochbergs; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [1998]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical physics; Histology; Metaphysis; Synovitis; Necrosis; Osteotomy; Arthrography; Magnetic Resonance Imaging; Legg-Calvé-Perthes Disease; Pediatrics; Hip; medicinsk instrumentering; tomografi; radiologi; Klinisk fysiologi; medical instrumentation; tomography; radiology;

    Abstract : The aims of this study were: to compare the cartilaginous outline of the femoral head obtained on arthrograms with those on MR images and to correlate it to the bony head outlines on conventional radiograps; to study early, postoperative cartilaginous and bony remodeling of the femoral head, after proximal femoral varus derotation extension osteotomy, with MR imaging and conventional radiography; to describe signal abnormalities on MR images in the femoral epiphysis, their location, extent and restitution over time; to evaluate the degree and persistence of synovitis in the hip joint by MR imaging; to analyze the metaphyseal histology and to correlate it to the signal intensity on the MR images in the corresponding biopsy region. Results and conclusions: MR imaging and arthrography define the shape of the femoral head cartilage equally well. READ MORE

  5. 5. Anterior shoulder dislocation : Aspects of alternative methods of treatment and MR imaging

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Göran Wintzell; Uppsala universitet.; [1998]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Shoulder; traumatic primary dislocation; arthroscopic lavage; non-operative regime; Indirect MR arthrography; apprehension position; ABER position; Bankart operation; Kirurgi; MEDICINE Surgery; MEDICIN Kirurgi; Orthopaedics; ortopedi;

    Abstract : Sixty patients (16-30 years) with traumatic primary anterior shoulder dislocation were allocated to arthroscopic lavage or non-operative treatment. The arthroscopic lavage group had a lower recurrence rate, better functional outcome and anterior stability after one year. READ MORE
