  1. 21. On Enhancement and Quality Assessment of Audio and Video in Communication Systems

    University dissertation from Karlskrona : Blekinge Institute of Technology

    Author : Andreas Rossholm; Blekinge Tekniska Högskola.; [2014]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; QoE; video quality assessment; video quality metric; multi-linear regression; artificial neural network; support vector machine; quality predictor; machine learning; temporal scaling; spatial scaling; video compression; deblocking filter; noise cancelling; synchronization; audio delay; video delay; GSM interference signal; noise cancellation; notch filtering;

    Abstract : The use of audio and video communication has increased exponentially over the last decade and has gone from speech over GSM to HD resolution video conference between continents on mobile devices. As the use becomes more widespread the interest in delivering high quality media increases even on devices with limited resources. READ MORE

  2. 22. Cardiac Troponins in Patients with Suspected or Confirmed Acute Coronary Syndrome New Applications for Biomarkers in Coronary Artery Disease

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Kai Eggers; Uppsala universitet.; [2007]
    Keywords : Internal medicine; Ischemic heart disease; Acute myocardial infarction; Troponin; Natriuretic peptide; CRP; Cystatin C; Artificial neural network; Point of care measurements; Risk prediction; Invärtesmedicin;

    Abstract : The cardiac troponins are the biochemical markers of choice for the diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and risk prediction in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). In this thesis, the role of early serial cardiac troponin I (cTnI) testing was assessed in fairly unselected patient populations admitted because of chest pain and participating in the FAST II-study (n=197) and the FASTER I-study (n=380). Abstract : IntroductionPaper I: An Artificial Neural Network (ANN) was constructed to identify ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) and predict the need for Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI). Paper II, III and IV: Studies suggest that O2 therapy may be harmful in STEMI patients. READ MORE

  4. 24. On Radio Wave Propagation Measurements and Modelling for Cellular Mobile Radio Networks

    University dissertation from Karlskrona : Blekinge Institute of Technology

    Author : Erik Östlin; Blekinge Tekniska Högskola.; [2009]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Field strength measurements; path loss prediction; point-to-area; Recommendation ITU-R P.1546; artificial neural network; large- and small-scale fading characteristics;

    Abstract : To support the continuously increasing number of mobile telephone users around the world, mobile communication systems have become more advanced and sophisticated in their designs. As a result of the great success with the second generation mobile radio networks, deployment of the third and development of fourth generations, the demand for higher data rates to support available services, such as internet connection, video telephony and personal navigation systems, is ever growing. 5. 25. Rough surfaces in contact artificial intelligence and boundary lubrication

    University dissertation from Luleå : Luleå tekniska universitet

    Author : Marco Rapetto; Luleå tekniska universitet.; [2008]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Machine Elements; Maskinelement;

    Abstract : Interacting surfaces are found in mechanical systems and components. Since engineered surfaces are not perfectly smooth, only a fraction of the nominal surface area is actually in contact. This fraction is denoted as the real area of contact, Ar, and is formed by the sum of the contact spots between the two touching surfaces. READ MORE
