  1. 1. Methods for performance characterization of artificial molecular motors

    Author : Ivan Unksov; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis work is to characterize artificial biomolecular motors, specifically the Lawnmower, a motor based on the burn bridges mechanism, and the Tumbleweed, a protein motor that employs ligand specific DNA-proteins binding to step along DNA. An overview of their operational principles is given, and initial results of our studies are presented, along with a review of currently available methods to characterize artificial molecular motors. Abstract : This thesis presents studies of molecular motors in interaction with nm-scale structures, as well as the development of a set of tools that can be used for the construction of custom-designed nano-transportation systems. In our studies, we have used the latest nanoscale technology and combined this with advanced results from chemistry and biomedical sciences. READ MORE

  4. 4. Micro- and Nanostructures for Studies of Model Biological Systems

    Author : Cassandra Niman; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysicumarkivet A:2014:Niman;

    Abstract : Sub-cellular biological components are complex systems that work together to control and maintain cellular activity and health. It is useful to study the basic elements that constitute the sub-cellular components using model systems, which mimic certain parts of the overall system, in order to better understand the system as a whole. 5. 5. Feedback in Small Systems -A Stochastic Thermodynamic Perspective

    Author : Regina Schmitt; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysicumarkivet A:2018:Schmitt;

    Abstract : Recent advances in nanotechnology and the accompanying development oftechniques that operate and manipulate systems on the micro- and nanometer scale have driven the development of stochastic thermodynamics. This isa theory that can describe small systems far from equilibrium, where the fluctuations are of the same order of magnitude as the mean values. READ MORE
