  1. 21. Antioxidant-Impregnated Polymers / Antioxidant Ability and Interactions with Food

    Author : Carolina Wessling; Avdelningen för livsmedel och läkemedel; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Food and drink technology; shelf-life; interactions; packaging; polymers; BHT; antioxidants; a-tocopherol; Livsmedelsteknik;

    Abstract : Interactions between antioxidant-impregnated low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and polypropylene (PP), and oxygen-sensitive foods have been investigated. BHT and a-tocopherol are two antioxidants commonly used in both foods and polymers. In general, BHT was rapidly lost from LDPE film in contact with various foodstuffs. READ MORE

  2. 22. Hydrometallurgical Treatment of Neodymium Magnet Waste

    Author : Marino Gergoric; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; recycling; rare-earth elements; leaching; Keywords: neodymium magnets; solvent extraction;

    Abstract : Recent decades have seen a considerable increase in the usage of rare-earth elements (REEs) in modern technologies and green energy sources. Recycling of REEs out of end-of-life products and E-scrap has become an alternative to mining them out of primary ores due to their supply risk in some countries and the development towards circular economies. 3. 23. Regenerable Organochalcogen Antioxidants : An Explorative Study

    Author : Jiajie Yan; Lars Engman; David J. Procter; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; autoxidation; antioxidant; selenium; tellurium; regenerable; multifunctional; radical-trapping; hydroperoxide-decomposing; co-antioxidant; Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot organisk kemi;

    Abstract : Antioxidants are widely used to protect organic materials from damages caused by autoxidation, an oxidation process that occurs under normal aerobic conditions. In this thesis, novel multifunctional organoselenium and organotellurium antioxidants were designed, synthesized, and evaluated in search for compounds with better radical-trapping capacity, regenerability, and hydroperoxide-decomposing ability. 4. 24. Analysis of proteins related toautoimmune and inflammatorydiseases with focus on newenrichment methodologies and MALDI-TOF MS

    Author : Yuye Zhou; Åsa Emmer; Margret Thorsteinsdottir; KTH; []
    Keywords : Protein; Glycopeptide; IgG; Osteopontin; Enrichment; Digestion; Separation; Microchip; MALDI-TOF MS; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : Proteins have been widely studied in biological sample analysis due to the association with diseases. In the present project, method and technique development was carried out on the analysis of two proteins, immunoglobulin G (IgG) and osteopontin (OPN). READ MORE

  5. 25. Alloxan Toxicity to macrophages and Insulinoma Cells

    Author : Hong Zhang; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Alloxan induces damage and death of pancreatic islet B-cells in severalexperimental animal models, thus causing insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM or type I diabetes). This unique cytotoxicity of alloxan has been studied for more than fifty years. READ MORE
