  1. 6. Ethanol from Softwood - Techno-Economic Evaluation for Development of the Enzymatic Process

    Author : Anders Wingren; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Kemiteknik och kemisk teknologi; process development; process simulation; ethanol production; Chemical technology and engineering; economic evaluation; softwood;

    Abstract : Ethanol produced from renewable resources can be used to replace fossil fuels such as gasoline and diesel. This thesis deals with the development of the enzymatic process used for ethanol production from softwood. READ MORE

  2. 7. Thermodynamic Modelling of Electrolyte Solutions with Application to the Pulp and Paper Industry

    Author : Anders Jaretun; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Potassium; Chloride; Chemical recovery; Leaching; Crystallization; Kraft pulping; Non-process elements; Solubility; Local composition; Excess properties; Osmotic coefficient; Electrolytes; Activity coefficient; Wood; pulp and paper technology; Pappers- och massateknik;

    Abstract : A thermodynamic model for electrolyte solutions has been derived for binary and multicomponent solutions up to very high molalities. The model was extensively tested on 163 binary aqueous electrolyte systems up to very high molalities, and the results show that the model represents mean ionic activity coefficients and osmotic coefficients very accurately. 3. 8. Biological Production of Hydrogen and Methane: Process Evaluation and Design through Modeling

    Author : Mattias Ljunggren; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; biological hydrogen production; dark fermentation; photofermentation; process simulation; economic evaluation; gas upgrading; anaerobic digestion;

    Abstract : A great deal of research is being carried out on the biological production of hydrogen and methane. However, little effort has been devoted to studying the technical and economic feasibility of these processes. READ MORE

  4. 9. Phase chemistry in process models for cement clinker and lime production

    Author : Bodil Hökfors; Rainer Backman; Bo Björkman; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Process modelling; phase chemistry; cement clinker; lime; sustainability; CO2; energy;

    Abstract : The goal of the thesis is to evaluate if developed phase chemical process models for cement clinker and lime production processes are reliable to use as predictive tools in understanding the changes when introducing sustainability measures.The thesis describes the development of process simulation models in the application of sustainability measures as well as the evaluation of these models. 5. 10. Impacts of Thermo–Physical Properties on the Design, Operation, and Cost of Monoethanolamine–Based Chemical Absorption

    Author : Worrada Nookuea; Jinyue Yan; Eva Thorin; Hailong Li; Xiaoyan Ji; Mälardalens universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : The thermodynamic and transport properties of CO2 mixtures are essential to the design, operation, and optimization of all carbon capture and storage processes. To retrieve accurate property values, accurate property models are required. However, there are many properties, which are in turn affected by many factors. READ MORE
