  1. 21. Cluster-Based Catalysts for Asymmetric Synthesis

    Author : Viktor Moberg; Kemisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Metallorganisk kemi; Organometallic chemistry; Oorganisk kemi; Inorganic chemistry; Kemi; Chemistry; hydride; cobalt; osmium; ruthenium; cyclocarbonylation; Pauson-Khand; carbonyl cluster; asymmetric hydrogenation;

    Abstract : In this work, the synthesis and characterisation of new low-valence transition metal carbonyl clusters, and an investigation into their viability to act as catalysts/catalyst precursors in asymmetric synthesis, are described. Carbonyl clusters based on ruthenium and osmium have been tested as (pre)catalysts for asymmetric hydrogenation of alpha-unsaturated carboxylic acids, and cobalt carbonyl clusters have been used as (pre)catalysts in (asymmetric) Pauson-Khand synthesis. 2. 22. Asymmetric Transfer Hydrogenation of Aromatic Ketones : Catalyst Development and Mechanistic Studies

    Author : Sofia Nordin; Torbjörn Frejd; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic chemistry; transfer hydrogenation; aza-norbornyl structure; amino acid derivatives; amino alcohols; ruthenium; concerted mechanism; asymmetric catalysis.; Organisk kemi; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the development and evaluation of new chiral Ru(arene)(amino alcohol) catalysts for the transfer hydrogenation of aromatic ketones using isopropanol as the hydrogen source. Two mechanistic studies of the Ru(arene)(amino alcohol) catalyzed transfer hydrogenation of acetophenone were also conducted. The Ru(arene)[(1S,3R,4R)-3. READ MORE

  3. 23. Asymmetric Hydrogenations of Imines, Vinyl Fluorides, Enol Phosphinates and Other Alkenes Using N,P-Ligated Iridium Complexes

    Author : Jarle Sidney Diesen; Pher G. Andersson; Kálmán J. Szabó; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Organic chemistry; Catalysis; Asymmetric; Hydrogenations; Reductions; Alkenes; Imines; Vinyl fluorides; Enolphosphinates; Transition metal; Complexes; Iridium; Organisk kemi; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : The research described in this thesis is directed toward the efficient, enantioselective synthesis of chiral products that have useful functionality. This goal was pursued through catalytic asymmetric hydrogenation, a reaction class that selectively introduces one or two stereocenters into a molecule in an atom-efficient step. READ MORE

  4. 24. Allylic alcohols and aziridines from alkenes : Studies in asymmetric catalysis

    Author : Mikael J. Södergren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; Enantioselective; allylic alcohols; epoxide rearrangement; lithium amides; desymmetrization; kinetic resolution; allylic oxidation; alkenes; aziridination; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : The development of methodology for asymmetric catalytic transformation of alkenederivatives is summarized. The studies concern the [a] Cu(I)-catalyzed allylic oxidation,[b] isomerization of epoxides to allyl alcohols, and [c] Cu(I)-catalyzed alkeneaziridination, respectively.[a] The preparation of exo-2-azabicyclo[2.2.
