  1. 21. Atmospheric Production and Transport of Cosmogenic 7Be and 10Be

    Author : Abdulhadi Kulan; Ala Aldahan; Göran Possnert; Raimund Muscheler; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Earth sciences; Aerosols; Atmosphere; Cosmogenic Be-7 and Be-10; Cs-137; Clouds; Sweden; Europe; Geovetenskap;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the atmospheric distribution of the cosmogenic isotopes 7Be (half-life 53 days) and 10Be (half-life 1.51 million years) as well as the anthropogenic isotope 137Cs (half-life 30 years) in aerosols and precipitation. READ MORE

  2. 22. Thin water and ice films on minerals : a molecular level study

    Author : Merve Yeşilbaş; Jean-François Boily; Johannes Messinger; Grégory Lefèvre; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; water; ice; cryosalt; minerals; rocks; atmosphere; Dynamic Vapour Sorption; FTIR; cryo-FESEM; fysikalisk kemi; Physical Chemistry;

    Abstract : Minerals in Earth’s crust and suspended in the atmosphere form water or ice films as thin as a few nanometers to as thick as a few micrometers, and beyond. Mineral-bound water and ice films in terrestrial systems (e.g. READ MORE

  3. 23. Molecular investigations of atmospherically relevant interface processes: ice formation and water accommodation on ice and organic surfaces

    Author : Xiangrui Kong; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; atmosphere; kinetics; Environmental molecular beam; ice nucleation; supersaturation; accommodation coefficient; phase transition; alcohols; green chemistry;

    Abstract : Clouds and aerosols play important roles in the climate system by affecting on atmospheric chemistry, the radiation budget of the atmosphere, and the water cycle including the formation of precipitation. Climate models with predictive power require quantitative descriptions of aerosols and clouds, but several key processes remain to be fully understood. READ MORE

  4. 24. Microwave Radiometric Observations of the Middle Atmosphere: Simulations and Inversions

    Author : Patrick Eriksson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; atmospheric radiative transfer; middle atmosphere; sub-mm; data inversion; profile retrieval; microwaves; limb sounding; ozone; remote sensing;

    Abstract : Two well-known examples of global environmental problems are the ozone depletion and the enhanced greenhouse effect. The importance and the complexity of these questions generate a demand for improved atmospheric observations, and microwave radiometry is an approach which is increasingly important for measurements of the middle atmosphere (10-100 km). 5. 25. Trace metals in the atmosphere : the wet deposition of trace metals : the selenium cycle

    Author : Howard B. Ross; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Cd, Cu, Fe, Mn, Pb and Zn concentrations in wet deposition have been monitored in Sweden since the autumn of 1983. Concentrations of these elements are highest in southern Sweden and decrease northward. Examination of enrichment factors, relative to crustal material, indicate that the major source of Cd, Cu, Pb and Zn is anthropogenic emissions. READ MORE
