1. Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometry : Exploring the Limits of Different Sample Preparation Strategies
Abstract : This thesis describes two different sample preparation strategies for inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES), and their ability regarding multi element quantification in complex samples. Sensitivity, repeatability, reproducibility and accuracy were investigated. READ MORE

2. Inductively Coupled Plasma Spectrometry for Speciation Analysis : Development and Applications
Abstract : In analytical chemistry the main goal is normally to determine the identity and/or concentration of one or more species in a sample. The samples analyzed are often natural samples, containing numerous different species in a complex matrix and the choice of technique for multi-elemental detection is in general inductively coupled plasma spectrometry. 3. Characterization of suspended particulate matter from freshwater : validation of a field filtration technique
Abstract : A field filtration method for the concentration and separation of suspended particulate matter (SPM) from freshwater systems and the subsequent determination of major, minor, trace and ultra trace elements (Al, As, Ba, Be, Ca, Cd, Co, Cr, Cs, Cu, Fe, Ga, Hf, K, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Nb, Ni, P, Pb, Rb, S, Sb, Sc, Si, Sn, Sr, Ta, Th, Ti, Tl, U, V, W, Zn and Zr) is validated with respect to detection limits, precision, and bias. The validation comprises the whole procedure including filtration, sample digestion and instrumental analysis. READ MORE

4. Selective Comminution Applied to Mineral Processing of Critical Metals
Abstract : The outstanding properties of tungsten and tantalum make them valuable metals and, in some cases, irreplaceable in applications. Due to the vital economic importance and limited supply, growing interest places these metals on the critical metals risk list. READ MORE
