2. Two-Step Targeting for Effective Radionuclide Therapy : Preclinical Evaluation of 125I-labelled Anthracycline Delivered by Tumour Targeting Liposomes
Abstract : For the treatment of cancer, Auger-electron emitting radionuclides are strongly dependent on their close proximity to DNA to utilize the local therapeutic potential of the Auger electrons. This thesis investigates a two-step targeting approach that uses targeting liposomes for the delivery of an Auger-electron emitter, 125I, coupled to a DNA-binding compound, Comp1, to the tumour-cell DNA. 3. Nuclear Dynamics in X-ray Absorption and Raman Scattering
Abstract : This thesis presents theoretical studies of several x-ray spectroscopies - x-ray absorption, x-ray photoelectron emission, radiative and non-radiative resonant Raman scattering spectroscopy. The main focus point is investigating the influence of nuclear dynamics on these spectra for a variety of small molecules - naphthalene, biphenyl, ethylene, the water dimer, HCl, CO. READ MORE

4. Single-photon multiple ionisation of atoms and molecules investigated by coincidence spectroscopy : Site-specific effects in acetaldehyde and carbon dioxide
Abstract : In this thesis, multiple ionisation processes of free atoms and molecules upon single photon absorption are studied by means of a versatile multi-electron-ion coincidence spectroscopy method based on a magnetic bottle, primarily in combination with synchrotron radiation. The latter offered the possibility to access not only valence but also core levels, revealing processes, which promote the target systems into different charge states. READ MORE

5. Models of Auger Neutralization and Tunneling at Metal Surfaces
Abstract : This thesis consists of a theoretical study of electron transfer at metal surfaces. It considers two types of electron transfer (electron tunneling and Auger neutralization) that both can be used as a spectroscopy to investigate the surface electronic structure. READ MORE
