1. Biosynthesis, Processing, and Sorting of Human Neutrophil Granule Proteins. Focus on Cathepsin G, Proteinase 3, and Azurocidin
Abstract : The neutrophil granulocyte contains a number of multifunctional proteins stored in different subsets of granules. The azurophil granules, synthesized early during differentiation, harbour leukocyte elastase, cathepsin G, proteinase 3, and azurocidin; the members of the serprocidin family. READ MORE

2. Leukemia Initiation in MLL-ENL Mediated Leukemogenesis
Abstract : In the blood system, knowledge on the regulation of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) and their immature progeny has provided roadmaps of differentiation. Such information can also have a value to understand the etiology of hematological cancers, since clinical heterogeneity and prognostic therapeutic outcomes have been proposed to associate with the specific developmental stage from which the transformed cells originate. 3. Computational Single-Cell Genomics Methods for Cell State Estimation and their Application to Hematopoietic Systems
Abstract : The focus of this doctoral dissertation was to develop novel and scalable computational genomics methods for analysing single-cell genomic modalities. Scarf, a highly memory-efficient single-cell data analysis toolkit, was developed to enable an analysis of very large-scale datasets on personal computers, and the execution of parallel workflows on server-scale computational systems. 4. Switching ON Fetal B Lymphopoiesis
Abstract : B-1a cells are innate-like lymphocytes that develop primarily during fetal and neonatal life, whereas adult bone marrow (BM) hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) preferentially give rise to follicular B-2 cells. Functioning at the interface of the innate and adaptive immune systems, B-1a cells provide a non-redundant first line of defense prior to the temporally delayed establishment of a B-2 cell response. 5. Molecular Mechanisms of the DEK Protein in Leukemia
Abstract : The DEK gene is upregulated in a growing number of cancers and translocated to form the DEK-NUP214 fusion gene in a subset of acute myeloid leukemia. In this thesis, we studied the cellular and molecular functions of the DEK and DEK-NUP214 proteins. READ MORE
