  1. 1. MOLECULAR PROFILING OF UROTHELIAL CARCINOMA

    Author : David Lindgren; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cytogenetik; Urology; nephrology; Urologi; nefrologi; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; cytogenetics; Genetics; cancer; onkologi; Cytologi; cancerology; oncology; Cytology; TP53; FGFR3; gene expression profiling; microarray; bladder cancer; urothelial carcinoma; Genetik;

    Abstract : The general aim of this thesis was to molecularly characterize urothelial carcinoma (UC) at the transcriptional level using gene expression microarrays to improve the classification and pathogenetic understanding of this disease. In the first two studies (Articles I and II), gene expression profiling was used to study dysregulated transcriptional networks in a large cohort of UCs. READ MORE

  2. 2. Genetic Characterization of Bone and Soft Tissue Tumors

    Author : Anna Dahlen; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; cytogenetik; Genetik; cytogenetics; mesenchymal tumor; pericytoma; Genetics; chondroma; lipoma;

    Abstract : Bone and soft tissue tumors (BSTT) constitute a heterogeneous group of neoplasms of mesenchymal and neuroectodermal origin. Although many BSTT are rare, it has become clear that BSTT are characterized by recurrent acquired chromosomal aberrations, and the general aim of this thesis have been to apply molecular genetic and molecular cytogenetic techniques to further characterize recurrent breakpoints and deletions, and to search for candidate target genes. 3. 3. Effects of antiresorptive agents on inflammation and bone regeneration in different osseous sites - experimental and clinical studies

    Author : Carina Cardemil; Peter Thomsen; Cecilia Larsson Wexell; Bente Brokstad Herlofson; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []

    Abstract : The biological mechanisms involved in bone regeneration in osteoporotic bone and the effect of antiresorptive drugs in relation to surgically inserted biomaterials are not fully understood. Improved osseointegration of titanium implants but also adverse effects of antiresorptive therapies, such as osteonecrotic jaw have been described in the literature. READ MORE

  4. 4. Trisomies in Hematologic Malignancies

    Author : Kajsa Paulsson; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; cytogenetik; Genetik; cytogenetics; Genetics; leukemia; chromosome aberration; trisomy;

    Abstract : Acquired clonal chromosome aberrations, closely associated with leukemogenesis, are found in many hematologic malignancies. Although the balanced rearrangements, such as translocations and inversions, are the ones most commonly thought of in the context of leukemias, gains of chromosomes ? e.g.. READ MORE

  5. 5. The clinical value of genetic analyses of bone and soft tissue tumors

    Author : Charles Walther; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Tumors of bone and soft tissue are common but only constitute 1 % of all malignant tumors. The malignant tumors are often difficult to diagnose due to their rarity and morphological resemblance between subtypes. This makes the diagnostic process challenging. READ MORE
