1. Mitigation of Pressure Pulsations in Axial turbine draft tube with jet injection or solid rod protrusion: A Numerical investigation
Abstract : The introduction of intermittent renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar power, to the power grid, demands some hydraulic turbines to operate at unfavorable operating conditions not initially designed for. Strong swirl develops at loads below the best efficiency point, (BEP) due to angle mismatch between the guide vanes and the fixed runner blades typical for Francis and Propeller turbines. READ MORE

2. Fundamental Studies on Direct Injection Nebulisers for Sample Introduction in ICP Spectrometry : Aerosol Properties, ICP Characteristics and Analytical Performance
Abstract : The performance of different types of nebulisers: Vulkan direct injection nebuliser (Vulkan DIN), direct injection high efficiency nebuliser (DIHEN), microconcentric nebuliser coupled to cyclonic or double pass spray chamber (MCN-C or MCN-DP, respectively) was investigated and compared when used for sample introduction to ICP-MS or ICP-OES. With ICP-OES, in axial viewing mode, intensity distributions across the radius of the plasma (radial intensity profiles) were determined for different spectral lines with Esum 1. READ MORE

3. Computation of Thermal Development in Injection Mould Filling, based on the Distance Model
Abstract : The heat transfer in the filling phase of injection moulding is studied, based on Gunnar Aronsson’s distance model for flow expansion ([Aronsson], 1996).The choice of a thermoplastic materials model is motivated by general physical properties, admitting temperature and pressure dependence. 4. Discogenic pain - A diagnostic challenge
Abstract : Low back pain (LBP) is a common health complaint with a lifetime prevalence up to 80%. Patients with discogenic pain constitute a minority of all with LBP but represent an important group with substantial personal consequences and high demands on health-care and social systems. READ MORE

5. Design of Suspension Plasma Sprayed Thermal Barrier Coatings
Abstract : Thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) are widely used on gas turbine components to provide thermal insulation, which in combination with advanced cooling, can enable the gas turbine to operate at significantly higher temperatures even above the melting temperature of the metallic components. There is a permanent need, mainly due to environmental reasons, to increase the combustion temperature inturbines, hence new TBC solutions are needed. READ MORE
