16. Dynamics of Torsional and Axial Vibrations in Indexable Drills
Abstract : Drilling is widely used in manufacturing of products which need holes, for example for fluid channels, screws or pins. Depending on application, workpiece material, cutting parameters and economic considerations, different types of drills are employed. Indexable insert drills are types of drills which facilitate inserts to make holes. READ MORE

17. Almost-axial impact on elastic and viscoelastic cantilever columns
Abstract : Almost-axial impact between a rigid body and a cantilever column is studied. A preliminary study of the contact process is presented for a flat-ended impacting body and a flat-ended elastic Timoshenko column with rectangular cross-section. The equations of motion pertaining to the column are solved using an explicit finite difference method. READ MORE

18. Multi-objective CFD-based design method for axial compressors
Abstract : Economic aspects such as reducing specific fuel consumption and ever growing environmental requirements on emissions and perceived noise levels are the major incentives in the pursuit to improve aircraft engines. The overall efficiency of the engine is a combination of propulsive efficiency and thermal efficiency. READ MORE

19. Theory and Applications of Tri-Axial Electromagnetic Field Measurements
Abstract : Polarisation, which was first studied in optics, is a fundamental property of all electromagnetic fields. A convenient way to describe the polarisation of two dimensional electromagnetic fields is given by the Stokes parameters. This thesis deals with different aspects of wave polarisation and electromagnetic field measurements. READ MORE

20. Modeling and experimental characterization of large biaxial strains and induced anisotropy in pearlitic rail steel
Abstract : Large shear strains accumulate in the near-surface region under the running band of railway rails. In this region, rolling contact fatigue cracks often initiate, causing major problems for the railway industry. READ MORE
