  1. 16. Structural assessment procedures for existing concrete bridges : Experiences from failure tests of the Kiruna Bridge

    Author : Niklas Bagge; Björn Täljsten; Paulo Cruz; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Anchorage; carbon fibre reinforced polymers; concrete; existing bridges; finite element analysis; flexure; full-scale test; load-carrying capacity; residual prestress force; punching; safety verification; shear; structural assessment; structural behaviour; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Abstract : Assessing existing bridges is an important task in the sustainable management ofinfrastructure. In practice, structural bridge assessments are usually conducted usingtraditional and standardised methods, despite knowledge that these methods oftenprovide conservative estimates. READ MORE

  2. 17. Wear reduction performance of rail flange lubrication

    Author : Patric Waara; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Maskinelement; Machine Elements;

    Abstract : Rail and rail wheel flange wear on the rail track has been a problem of attention for the last 30 years. The problems arise in curves and depend on increased traffic volume, heavier axle load and also higher speed. Axle loads of 22,5-25 ton is common nowadays and the trend is towards heavier axle loads where the next step is 30-35 ton. READ MORE

  3. 18. Development and results of the Swedish road deflection tester

    Author : Peter Andrén; Anders Eriksson; Anders Lenngren; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Other engineering mechanics; Övrig teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : A project to construct a high-speed road deflection tester was initiated in the 1991. A mid-sized truck was used as a carrier for the first prototype. The results were promising and it was decided to build a full-size truck system. The new vehicle, based on a Scania R143 ML, was completed in 1997. READ MORE

  4. 19. A study of the track degradation process related to changes in railway traffic

    Author : Dan Larsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Drift och underhållsteknik; Operation and Maintenance;

    Abstract : This licentiate thesis presents the results of a research project concerning railroad maintenance. After acquiring the state-of-the-art knowledge in relevant areas a prediction model for railroad track degradation has been developed. The model is named DeCoTrack (Degradation Cost Of Track). 5. 20. Dynamic train/track interaction : hanging sleepers, track stiffness variations and track settlement

    Author : Andreas Lundqvist; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Trains have been operating on ballasted tracks for over 150 years. During this time demands from the railway organisations and from the industry to increase axle loads and train speeds on the existing railway lines have increased. The reasons for this are both economial and environmental. READ MORE
