  1. 1. The short, excited life of tellurium : Lifetime analysis of excited states in the Te midshell region

    Author : Ebba Ahlgren Cederlöf; Ayse Nyberg; Torbjörn Bäck; Johan Nyberg; Matthias Weiszflog; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gamma spectroscopy; lifetime measurement; lifetime; shell model; RDDS; DDCM; nuclear physics; nuclear structure; gamma spektroskopi; livstidsmätningar; livstid; skalmodellen; RDDS; DDCM; kärnfysik; kärnstruktur; Atomic; Subatomic and Astrophysics; Atomär fysik; subatomär fysik och astrofysik;

    Abstract : In this licentiate thesis, lifetimes of low lying excited states in the midshell region of tellurium isotopes are discussed. The nuclear lifetimes are interesting properties to study, since they are inversely proportional to the transition probabilities, which contain information on the underlying structure of the nucleus. 2. 2. Gamma-ray Spectroscopy ofNeutron-rich 111 Mo, 85,87 Ge andSelf-Conjugate 88 Ru Far From Stability

    Author : Özge Aktas; Ayse Nyberg; Bo Cederwall; Augusto Machiavelli; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Atomic; Subatomic and Astrophysics; Atomär fysik; subatomär fysik och astrofysik;

    Abstract : The neutron-deficient self-conjugate (N=Z) nucleus 8844 Ru 44 was populatedvia the heavy ion fusion evaporation reaction 54 Fe( 36 Ar, 2n) 88 Ru in an ex-periment performed at the GANIL accelerator laboratory in France. Usingthe AGATA γ-ray spectrometer together with ancillary detectors, promptγ − γ − 2n coincidence and charge particle anticoincidence analysis was per-formed for the low-lying energy spectrum of 88 Ru. 3. 3. Towards nanodosimetry: therapeutic radiation measurements using the variance method

    Author : Linda Eliasson; Ayse Nyberg; Torbjörn Bäck; Jan Lillhök; Anja Almén; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Atomic; Subatomic and Astrophysics; Atomär fysik; subatomär fysik och astrofysik;

    Abstract : Understanding how radiation damage occurs in human tissue seems to lie in the knowledge of energy depositions in DNA-size volumes, with diameters typically around a few nanometres. In such small volumes the energy transfers are stochastic and described using distributions of events along a particle track and relevant mean values. READ MORE

  4. 4. Collective Structure of Neutron-Rich Rare-Earth Nuclei and Development of Instrumentation for Gamma-Ray Spectroscopy

    Author : Pär-Anders Söderström; Johan Nyberg; Ayşe Ataç; John Simpson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nuclear structure; collective models; 150 < A < 189; AGATA; HPGe detectors; gamma-ray tracking; NEDA; pulse-shape discrimination; neutrons; neural network; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Physics with specialization in Nuclear Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot kärnfysik;

    Abstract : Neutron-rich rare-earth nuclei are among the most collective nuclei that can be found in nature. In particular, the doubly mid-shell nucleus 170Dy is expected to be the nucleus where the collective structure is maximized. READ MORE
