  1. 1. Computational Studies of Metal Clusters and Carbon Nanotubes

    Author : Anders Börjesson; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; carbon nanotube; metal clusters; nanotubesmetal junction; melting temperatures; nanotechnology; molecular dynamics; monte carlo; tight binding; atomistic simulations; Energi och material;

    Abstract : Carbon nanotubes constitute a promising candidate material in the realisation of nanoscaled electronics. This requires the ability for systematic production of carbon nanotubes with certain properties. This is called selective carbon nanotube growth. READ MORE

    Abstract : Carbon nanotubes have been envisioned to become a very important material in various applications. This is due to the unique properties of carbon nanotubes which can be exploited in applications on length scales spanning from the nano world to our macroscopic world. READ MORE

  4. 4. Pulmonary Injury Following Intestinal Ischemia and Reperfusion in Rats

    Author : Anna Börjesson; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; reperfusion injury; intestinal ischemia; pulmonary injury; endothelium; cytokines; alveolar fluid clearance; leukocytes; orthopaedics; Surgery; traumatology; ortopedi; Kirurgi; traumatologi;

    Abstract : Intestinal ischemia and reperfusion (I/R) is a potentially life-threatening condition, sometimes leading to a systemic inflammatory response and the potential development of the multiple organ dysfunction syndrome. The overall aim of the thesis was to study the effects of intestinal I/R on pulmonary function with special emphasis on removal of excess alveolar fluid, pulmonary endothelial barrier permeability, leukocyte accumulation and function, and possible therapeutic strategies to prevent the development of pulmonary injury following intestinal I/R. 5. 5. Side effects and experiences of doping with anabolic androgenic steroids in men and women

    Author : Annica Börjesson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) are mainly used in non-medical conditions for aesthetic and performance- enhancing purposes. The use of AAS is a growing public health problem and a concern in society due to side effects. Men and women use AAS despite their known negative effects and unknown long-term risks. READ MORE
