  1. 1. Early Cambrian Problematic Lophotrochozoans and Dilemmas of Scleritome Reconstructions

    Author : Cecilia M Larsson; Lars E Holmer; Christian B Skovsted; Anette E S Högström; John S Peel; Glenn A Brock; Michael J Vendrasco; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Problematica; scleritome; Trachyplax; tommotiid; Cambrian; South Australia; North Greenland; Earth Science with specialization in Historical Geology and Palaeontology; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot historisk geologi och paleontologi;

    Abstract : The emergence and radiation of metazoan body plans around the Precambrian/Cambrian boundary, some 500-600 million years ago, seems to be concordant with the appearance and diversification of preservable hard parts. Several Precambrian soft-bodied, multicellular organisms most likely represent stem-group bilaterians, but their fossil record is rather sparse. READ MORE

  2. 2. Mast cells: bad enemies or good friends? : A study of the effects of IgG immune complexes on mast cell biology

    Author : Lisa M Larsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Mast cell; Fc receptor; Apoptosis; Immune complex; Adjuvant; CTA1-DD.;

    Abstract : Mast cells are classically defined as bad enemies to human health due to their critical involvement in IgE-dependent allergy by virtue of the expression of the high affinity IgE receptor, FcgammaRI, on these cells. However, mouse mast cells also express FcgammaRIIB and FcgammaRIIIA, two receptors that bind IgG especially in the form of IgG immune complexes. READ MORE

  3. 3. A Few-Mode-Fiber Platform for Quantum Communication Applications

    Author : Alvaro Alarcón Cuevas; Guilherme B. Xavier; Jan-Åke Larsson; Sebastião Pádua; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Society as we know it today would not have been possible without the explosive and astonishing development of telecommunications systems, and optical fibers have been one of the pillars of these technologies.Despite the enormous amount of data being transmitted over optical networks today, the trend is that the demand for higher bandwidths will also increase. 4. 4. Histone modification regulated bysuppressor of Zeste 12 and Ipl1 : Aurora-like kinase in Drosophila

    Author : Anna Larsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : molekylär bioteknik inst f molekylärbiologi ; molecular biotechnology dept of molecular biology ;

    Abstract : Polycomb group (PcG) proteins are a group of genome wide silencers that are crucial for many processes during the development. In Drosophila PcG proteins are organised into four different complexes: PRC1, PRC2, PhoRC and PR-DUB. PRC2 consists of four core proteins: Su(z)12, E(z), Esc and Nurf. READ MORE

  5. 5. Quality aspects in direct shear testing of rock joints

    Author : Jörgen Larsson; Fredrik Johansson; Alejano Leandro; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; rock joints; geometrical quality assurance; replicas; direct shear testing; normal stiffness; bergssprickor; geometrisk kvalitetssäkring; replikor; skjuvhållfasthetprovning; normalstyvhet.; Jord- och bergmekanik; Soil and Rock Mechanics;

    Abstract : The stability of rock masses is influenced by the occurrence of rock joints. Therefore, the shear strength of rock joints must be considered in dimensioning of underground constructions. READ MORE
