1. Regulation of gene expression in fruit flies : how does it start, and will it be remembered?
Abstract : One of the most distinctive features of eukaryotic chromosomes is the bundling of DNA together with functionally associated RNA and proteins in chromatin. This allows huge amounts of DNA to be packed inside the very tiny space of the nucleus, and alterations in the structure of chromatin enable access to the DNA for transcription (“reading” genes by production of RNA copies). 2. The EGF-like Modules of Anticoagulant Protein S. Studies of Ca2+ binding and module interactions
Abstract : Protein S functions as a cofactor to activated protein C (APC) in the degradation of factors Va and VIIIa. In plasma protein S circulates in two forms; 30-40 % circulates as free protein S molecules while the remaining 60-70 % exists in a 1:1 complex with C4b-binding protein (C4BP). Only the free form of protein S functions as a cofactor to APC. READ MORE

Abstract : Turner Syndrome is a common chromosomal disorder and affects approximately one in every 2000 newborn girl. The syndrome is defined as a total (45,X) or partial loss of the second sex chromosome in combination with the typical characteristic features, which are short stature (less than 150 cm), absent estrogen production due to ovarian dysgenesis, with failure to enter puberty spontaneously and infertility. 5. Viral wheeze and risk factors for childhood asthma : an evaluation of clinical, immunological and genetic factors
Abstract : It’s not fully understood why some children wheeze with viral infections, and why some develop severe asthma. In this study we compared two study groups; children presenting with acute wheeze (AW) before the age of four and age-matched healthy controls (HC), and we investigated factors that might contribute to increased vulnerability for airway infections and risk of later asthma development.
