  1. 1. Analysis of Immunoglobulin Genes and Telomeres in B cell Lymphomas and Leukemias

    Author : Sarah Walsh; Richard Rosenquist; Christer Sundström; Anna Laurell; Andreas Rosenwald; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; B cell lymphoma leukemia; mantle cell lymphoma; hairy cell leukemia; lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma; immunoglobulin genes; antigen selection; telomeres; cellular origin; somatic hypermutation; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik;

    Abstract : B cell lymphomas and leukemias are heterogeneous tumors with different cellular origins. Analysis of immunoglobulin (Ig) genes enables insight into the B cell progenitor, as Ig somatic hypermutation correlates with antigen-related B cell transit through the germinal center (GC). 2. 2. Regulation of gene expression in fruit flies : how does it start, and will it be remembered?

    Author : Aman Zare; Per Stenberg; Yuri B. Schwartz; Åsa Rasmuson-Lestander; Guillaume Filion; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Drosophila; epigenetics; transcription; gene regulation; transcription maintenance; CBP; polymerase pausing; Polycomb group proteins; transgenerational inheritance of transcriptional response; gut microbiome; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Abstract : One of the most distinctive features of eukaryotic chromosomes is the bundling of DNA together with functionally associated RNA and proteins in chromatin. This allows huge amounts of DNA to be packed inside the very tiny space of the nucleus, and alterations in the structure of chromatin enable access to the DNA for transcription (“reading” genes by production of RNA copies). 3. 3. Genomic and Molecular Aspects of Mature Human B Cells

    Author : Carl-Magnus Högerkorp; Institutionen för immunteknologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; transplantation; Human; B-cell; Germinal center; Centroblast; serology; Immunology; onkologi; cancer; Cytologi; cancerology; oncology; Microarray; Cytology; Mantel cell lymphoma; Immunologi; serologi; Centrocyte;

    Abstract : This thesis covers aspects of the mature human B cell and its different guises on its way to become a fully differentiated antibody forming plasma cell (AFC), the key player in the humoral immune system. The understanding of the complex molecular mechanisms taking place in the B cell, as it first encounters antigen, enters the germinal center (GC) reaction, giving rise to memory cells and plasma cells, is not only of importance for the curious scientist, but will also benefit the understanding of B cells in disease. 4. 4. CD19-targeting CAR T Cells for Treatment of B Cell Malignancies : From Bench to Bedside

    Author : Hannah Karlsson; Angelica Loskog; Karl-Johan Malmberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; chimeric antigen receptors; CAR T cells; T cell therapy; immunotherapy; CD19; Bcl-2 family inhibitors; B cell malignancies; Klinisk immunologi; Clinical Immunology;

    Abstract : Immunotherapy for cancer is a young research field progressing at high speed. The first chimera of an antibody and a signaling chain was designed by Zelig Eshhar and was later further developed to enhance existing T cell therapy by combining a single-chain fragment of an antibody with the CD3 zeta chain of the TCR complex. 5. 5. B cell subpopulations in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis

    Author : Katrin Thorarinsdottir; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; B cells; Rheumatoid arthritis; Joint destruction; DAS28; CD21- low B cells;

    Abstract : B cell depleting therapy has proven to be an effective treatment in rheumatoid arthritis (RA), a disease characterized by the presence of autoantibodies against citrullinated proteins (ACPA) and the Fc portion of IgG (rheumatoid factor, RF). This demonstrates the vital role B cells play in the disease. READ MORE
