  1. 1. Aggressive B-cell Lymphomas : Studies of Treatment, FDG-PET Evaluation and Prognostic Factors

    Author : Magdalena Adde; Gunilla Enblad; Hans Hagberg; Anna Laurell; Tor Ekman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Abstract : To improve outcome in young, high-risk lymphoma patients, treatment was intensified, adding etoposide and rituximab to standard CHOP treatment. Granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) enabled treatment bi-weekly. Results were promising: overall (OS) and event-free survival (EFS) 79% and 60% respectively, median follow up 27 months. 2. 2. Studies on Molecular Genetics of B cell Development

    Author : Panagiotis Tsapogas; Avdelningen för klinisk genetik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; immunoglobulin; gene expression; B cell; EBF; class switching; TGF-beta; Immunology; transplantation; serologi; Immunologi; serology;

    Abstract : The development of immature progenitor cells into highly differentiated effector cells is a process central in modern medicine with applications in the fields of cell therapy as well as oncology. This thesis is focused on the molecular mechanisms that control the development of B lymphocytes. READ MORE

  3. 3. Protein kinases and phosphatases in B-cell lymphoma

    Author : Marie Fridberg; Tumörmikromiljö; []
    Keywords : HePTP; PTEN; PKC-beta 2; B-cell; lymphoma; kinases; ZAP70; phosphatase; SHP2;

    Abstract : Around 2000 persons are diagnosed with lymphoma in Sweden each year. There are many subgroups described for this form of cancer and the great majority is derived from B-cells. The most common subgroup is Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), a highly aggressive disease where only half of the patients are cured. READ MORE

  4. 4. Functional collaboration between HLH transcription factors in B cell development

    Author : Ramiro Gisler; Stamcellscentrum (SCC); []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; E47; Early B cell Factor EBF ; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; HLH proteins; transcription factors; gene expression; B cell development; transcription regulation;

    Abstract : The cells in B cell development can be divided into several subgroups or fractions, e.g. early-pro-B-, pro-B, large-pre-B-, small-pre-B-, immature and mature B cells, where the stages reflect the maturity degree of the cells. READ MORE

  5. 5. Immunoglobulin Gene Analysis in Different B cell Lymphomas : With Focus on Cellular Origin and Antigen Selection

    Author : Mia Thorsélius; Richard Rosenquist Brandell; Christer Sundström; Anders Rosén; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; B cell lymphoma; Immunoglobulin; V gene; somatic hypermutation; antigen selection; quantitative PCR; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik;

    Abstract : B cell lymphoma (BCL) comprises a biologically and clinically heterogeneous group of tumors deriving from different stages of B cell development. The immunoglobulin (Ig) variable heavy chain (VH) gene rearrangement is unique for each BCL and can be used to reveal cellular origin, to study signs of antigen selection and to quantify tumor cell load.
