1. NMR studies of the amyloid beta-peptide
Abstract : The Amyloid beta peptide (Ab) is related to Alzheimer’s disease and is suggested to be the molecular pathogenic species of the disease, probably through the neurotoxic effect of Ab oligomers. Here the results from biophysical studies of Ab and fragments thereof, are presented. READ MORE

2. Spectroscopic study of titanium monohydride and storage ring experiments
Abstract : This thesis describes two projects, spectroscopy of the astrophysically relevant molecule TiH and its isotopologue TiD, and the dissociative recombination (DR) reaction of astrophysically and atmospherically relevant molecules. Emphasis in the thesis is on the first project. READ MORE

3. Enzymes and genes for microbial metabolism ofoxochlorates
Abstract : Oxochlorates can be used as electron acceptors for microbial respiration in a variety of bacterial species, and oxochlorate respiration plays a substantial role in the biotransformation of these environmental contaminants. Although oxochlorate respirers are widely spread in the environment, only few enzymes and even fewer genes, involved in the metabolism of oxochlorates have been isolated and characterised. READ MORE

4. The Clinical and Pathological Spectrum of Idiopathic Inflammatory Myopathies : Implications for pathogenesis, classification and diagnosis
Abstract : Background: Idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM) constitute a heterogeneous group of diseases with severe consequences for the life of affected patients. Dermatomyositis, polymyositis and inclusion body myositis (IBM) are the classical representatives of this group. READ MORE

5. Host ligands and oral bacterial adhesion : studies on phosphorylated polypeptides and gp-340 in saliva and milk
Abstract : Infectious diseases e.g. gastric ulcer, caries and perodontitis, are caused by bacteria in a biofilm. Adhesion of bacteria to host ligands e. READ MORE
