  1. 1. The industry role in policymaking : Policy learning in climate politics

    Author : Peter Stigson; Yan Jinyue; Thomas B. Johansson; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Climate policy; Policy learning; Participatory policymaking; Policy evaluation; Voluntary agreements; Negotiated agreements; Industry; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Abstract : Climatic change has sparked a broad range of responses on all societal levels. New initiatives and negotiations, scientific findings, and technological developments, have established a novel framework for policymaking and industrial abatement investments. READ MORE

  2. 2. Regenerable Organochalcogen Antioxidants : An Explorative Study

    Author : Jiajie Yan; Lars Engman; David J. Procter; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; autoxidation; antioxidant; selenium; tellurium; regenerable; multifunctional; radical-trapping; hydroperoxide-decomposing; co-antioxidant; Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot organisk kemi;

    Abstract : Antioxidants are widely used to protect organic materials from damages caused by autoxidation, an oxidation process that occurs under normal aerobic conditions. In this thesis, novel multifunctional organoselenium and organotellurium antioxidants were designed, synthesized, and evaluated in search for compounds with better radical-trapping capacity, regenerability, and hydroperoxide-decomposing ability. 3. 3. Inducible nitric oxide synthase : in vascular smooth muscle cells

    Author : Zhong-qun Yan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : nitric oxide; nitric oxide synthase; vascular smooth muscle cells; transcriptional regulation; NF-[kappa]B; I[kappa]B; pathophysiological role;

    Abstract : Besides the constitutively expressed nitric oxide synthase (NOS) in endothelial cells, vascular smooth muscle cells (SMC) have the potential to express the inducible isoform of NOS (iNOS). Given the important effects of nitric oxide and the high output of this enzyme, expression of iNOS in SMC and its pathophysiological significance were investigated in the present study. READ MORE

  4. 4. Resource Allocation in Flexible-Grid Optical Networks with Nonlinear Interference

    Author : Li Yan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Gaussian noise model; nonlinear interference; elastic optical networks; resource allocation; physical layer impairment; Flexible-grid optical network;

    Abstract : As the backbone of modern communications, the optical networks are anticipated to provide higher data rate and flexibility to support the exponentially growing volume and heterogeneity of traffic requirements. Flexible-grid optical networks have been proposed to improve the utilization of spectrum resources. READ MORE

  5. 5. Poly(A)-Specific Ribonuclease (PARN)

    Author : Yan-Guo Ren; Eric Westhof; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell and molecular biology; Poly A -specific ribonuclease; PARN; deadenylation; processive; oligomeric; cap interacting; aminoglycoside; active site; FE2 -mediated cleavage; metal ion switch; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology;

    Abstract : Degradation of the mRNA 3'-end located poly(A) tail is an important step for mRNA decay in mammalian cells. Thus, to understand mRNA decay in detail, it is important to identify the catalytic activities involved in degrading poly(A). READ MORE
