21. Acetylation of Solid Wood. Wood Properties and Process Development
Abstract : The influence of acetylation on selected wood properties has been determined for Scandinavian pine and spruce wood, in order to predict the behavior of acetylated wood when it is used in different applications. Only minor differences in both bending strength and the modulus of elasticity were obtained for acetylated wood when compared with unmodified wood, and can, for practical applications, be considered unaltered. 22. Wood hydrolysate Barriers
Abstract : Wood hemicellulose is an abundant but fairly unexploited renewable feedstock. Recent studies have shown that hemicelluloses have a large potential for use in the food packaging industry as a sustainable alternative to the conventional oxygen-barrier materials used today. READ MORE

23. Industrial Wood Drying : Airflow Distribution, Internal Heat Exchange and Moisture Content as Input and Feedback to the Process
Abstract : At a sawmill, the most energy demanding process is the wood drying. The drying process also has a great impact on quality parameters determined for the boards in the final sorting and thereby affects the sales value to a great extent. READ MORE

24. Wood fingerprint recognition and detection of thin cracks
Abstract : The first part of this thesis deals with recognition of wood fingerprints extracted from timber surfaces. It presents different methods to track sawn wood products through an industrial process using cameras. READ MORE

25. Recalcitrance of wood to biochemical conversion : feedstock properties, pretreatment, saccharification, and fermentability
Abstract : Lignocellulose is an inexpensive and abundant renewable resource that can be used to produce advanced biofuels, green chemicals, and other bio-based products. Pretreatment and efficient enzymatic saccharification are essential features of bioconversion of lignocellulosic biomass. READ MORE
