  1. 1. Bridge Edge Beams : LCCA and Structural Analysis for the Evaluation of New Concepts

    Author : José Javier Veganzones Muñoz; Lars Pettersson; Costin Pacoste; Raid Karoumi; Håkan Sundquist; Morgan Johansson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Byggvetenskap;

    Abstract : Bridge edge beams in Sweden may involve up to 60% of the life-cyclemeasure costs incurred along the road bridge’s life span. Moreover, usercosts as means of traffic disturbances are caused. Consequently, the SwedishTransport Administration started a project to find better alternativeedge beam design proposals for the society. READ MORE

  3. 3. Clinical application of intensity and energy modulated radiotherapy with photon and electron beams

    Author : Xiangkui Mu; Björn Zackrisson; Mikael Karlsson; Thomas Björk-Eriksson; Erik Blomquist; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; Radiotherapy; IMXT; IMET; IMPT; proton beams; electron beams; treatment planning; cancer induction; side-effects; fraction time; intensity modulated radiotherapy; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; Oncology; onkologi;

    Abstract : In modern, advanced radiotherapy (e.g. intensity modulated photon radiotherapy, IMXT) the delivery time for each fraction becomes prolonged to 10-20 minutes compared with the conventional, commonly 2-5 minutes. The biological effect of this prolongation is not fully known. READ MORE

  5. 5. Self-Regulating Active Chilled Beams

    Author : Peter J Filipsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Comfort cooling; High temperature cooling; Self-regulation; Active chilled beams;

    Abstract : By designing comfort cooling systems to operate with higher chilled water temperatures, electricity driven chillers may be replaced by natural sources of free cooling. It also enables the possibility of self-regulation which, due to simplicity and robustness, brings cost-savings both during installation and maintenance of the building. READ MORE
