21. Stochastic systems with locally defined dynamics
Abstract : We study three different classes of models of stochastic systems with locally defined dynamics. Our main points of interest are the limiting properties and convergence in these models. The first class is the locally interactive sequential adsorption, or LISA, models. READ MORE

22. Generation and Transmission of Optical Solitons at Ultrahigh Bit Rates
Abstract : This thesis deals with the generation and transmission of optical solitons in ultrahigh-speed fiber-optic communication systems. For optical soliton pulses the fiber dispersion and nonlinearity can under certain circumstances cancel each other, thus allowing the solitons to remain undistorted over long distances. READ MORE

23. A Passing Power : An Examination of the Sources for the History of Aram-Damascus in the Second Half of the Ninth Century B.C
Abstract : Much has been written about the kingdom of Aram-Damascus, and if one considers the scarcity of the source material, one could almost say: too much! One of the results of this study is that our historical sources do not support such an extensive history of this kingdom as some scholars have written. The study is a thorough examination of both textual and archaeological sources for the history of the kingdom of Aram-Damascus. READ MORE

24. Parametrically pumped superconducting circuits
Abstract : In this licentiate thesis, I present the design, fabrication, and characterization of superconducting parametric resonators, for use in quantum information processing. These devices are quarter-wavelength coplanar waveguide resonators (~5 GHz), terminated at one end by a non-linear inductance provided by a SQUID (superconducting quantum interference device). 25. The Josephson parametric oscillator - From microscopic studies to single-shot qubit readout
Abstract : Circuit quantum electrodynamics (cQED) is a prominent platform for quantum information processing, in which microwave photons are confined into resonant cavities coupled to superconducting quantum bits (qubits). The large effective dipole moment of the qubit, in combination with the high energy density of the quasi 1-D resonator allow these systems to enter the so-called strong coupling regime. READ MORE
