  1. 1. Interpolation of Subcouples, New Results and Applications

    Author : Peter Sunehag; Sten Kaijser; Natan Krugljak; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematical analysis; Interpolation; Banach couple; Banach space Banach algebra; subcouple; quotient couple; Matematisk analys; Mathematical analysis; Analys;

    Abstract : Suppose that X and Y are Banach couples and suppose that there is a bounded linear couple map Q from Y to X which has the property that Q restricted to the endpoint spaces is injective and the images of the endpointspaces of Y are closed in the endpoint spaces of X, then we say that Y is a subcouple of X. If F is an interpolation functor we want to know how F(Y) is related to F(X). READ MORE

  2. 2. Newtonian Spaces Based on Quasi-Banach Function Lattices

    Author : Lukáš Malý; Anders Björn; Jana Björn; Tomas Sjödin; Pekka Koskela; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Newtonian space; upper gradient; weak upper gradient; Banach function lattice; quasi-normed space; metric measure space;

    Abstract : The traditional first-order analysis in Euclidean spaces relies on the Sobolev spaces W1,p(Ω), where Ω ⊂ Rn is open and p ∈ [1, ∞].The Sobolev norm is then defined as the sum of Lp norms of a function and its distributional gradient.We generalize the notion of Sobolev spaces in two different ways. 3. 3. Sobolev-Type Spaces : Properties of Newtonian Functions Based on Quasi-Banach Function Lattices in Metric Spaces

    Author : Lukáš Malý; Anders Björn; Jana Björn; Tomas Sjödin; Andrea Cianchi; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Newtonian space; Sobolev-type space; metric measure space; upper gradient; Sobolev capacity; Banach function lattice; quasi-normed space; rearrangement-invariant space; maximal operator; Lipschitz function; regularization; weak boundedness; density of Lipschitz functions; quasi-continuity; continuity; doubling measure; Poincaré inequality;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of four papers and focuses on function spaces related to first-order analysis in abstract metric measure spaces. The classical (i.e., Sobolev) theory in Euclidean spaces makes use of summability of distributional gradients, whose definition depends on the linear structure of Rn. READ MORE

  5. 5. Clarkson type inequalities and geometric properties of banach spaces

    Author : Anna Klisinska; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Matematik; Mathematics; Mathematics Education; Matematik och lärande;

    Abstract : In this thesis Clarkson's inequalities and their generalizations are the main tools. The technique that can be used to prove Clarkson type inequalities in more dimensions is shown. We also establish Clarkson type inequalities in general Banach spaces and point out the connections between Clarkson's inequalities and the concept of type and cotype. READ MORE
