  1. 1. Improving Software Security by Preventing Known Vulnerabilities

    Author : David Byers; Nahid Shahmehri; David Basin; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Software security; software process improvement;

    Abstract : From originally being of little concern, security has become a crucial quality factor in modern software. The risk associated with software insecurity has increased dramatically with increased reliance on software and a growing number of threat agents. Nevertheless, developers still struggle with security. READ MORE

  2. 2. Dynamics of nutrient mass transport : A river basin evaluation

    Author : Gunnar Karlsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Motala ström; INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AREAS; TVÄRVETENSKAPLIGA FORSKNINGSOMRÅDEN;

    Abstract : Human settlements and activities can dramatically change and accelerate the rate of eutrophication in a river basin. An undesirable increase in the input of nutrients, e.g. phosphorus and nitrogen, to a surface water causes adverse water quality conditions. READ MORE

  3. 3. Silurian vertebrates of Gotland (Sweden) and the Baltic Basin

    Author : Oskar Bremer; Henning Blom; Per E. Ahlberg; Tiiu Märss; Héctor Botella; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; early vertebrates; vertebrate microremains; scale taxonomy; early vertebrate distribution; environmental preferences; Silurian; Baltic Basin; Gotland; Sweden; Biology with specialization in Evolutionary Organismal Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot evolutionär organismbiologi;

    Abstract : During the Silurian, the Swedish island Gotland was positioned close to the equator and covered by a shallow sea called the Baltic Basin. The sedimentary rocks (predominantly carbonates) comprising most of the island today were initially formed in this warm sea, and the relatively complete succession of rocks often contains fossil fragments and scales from early vertebrates, including heterostracans, anaspids, thelodonts, osteostracans, acanthodians, and a stem-osteichthyan. 4. 4. Geophysical Studies Bearing on the Origin of the Arctic Basin

    Author : Nina Lebedeva-Ivanova; Christopher Juhlin; David Gee; Ruth Jackson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : refraction seismic; reflection seismic; crustal structure; Arctic Ocean; Amerasia Basin.; Geofysik med inriktning mot seismologi; Geophysics with specialization in Seismology;

    Abstract : Deep troughs and ridges of the Arctic Basin are some of the least known features of the Earth's crust. Some of the ridges, eg. Chukchi and Nordwind, are connected directly to the continental shelves and are certainly submarine promontories of the latter. READ MORE

  5. 5. Arsenic in Alluvial Aquifers in the Meghna Basin, Southeastern Bangladesh : Hydrogeological and Geochemical Characterisation

    Author : Md. Aziz Hasan; Prosun Bhattacharya; William Burgess; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Alluvial aquifer; groundwater; arsenic mobilisation; geology; Meghna basin; Bangladesh; Water engineering; Vattenteknik;

    Abstract :  Elevated levels of arsenic (As) in Bangladesh groundwater has emerged as a massive calamity exposing a large population to the risk of As toxicity from drinking water sources and agricultural products. Holocene alluvial aquifers in the delta- and flood-plains of the Ganges-Brahmaputra- Meghna (GBM) river systems are severely affected by high levels of As in groundwater. READ MORE
