21. Sulfonated Cellulose Membranes for Energy Storage Applications
Abstract : In the ongoing efforts to reduce the dependency of mankind on fossil fuels for the supply of energy, renewable energy sources such as solar cells and wind turbines are employed to an increasing extent. Transitioning a large portion of electrical grids to intermittent power sources come with several problems that need to be taken into account and handled, such as ensuring supply at peak power demand and considering frequency regulation and other issues related to the stability of the grid. 22. Electrified Integrated Kinetic Energy Storage
Abstract : The electric car is a technically efficient driveline, although it is demanding in terms of the primary energy source. Most trips are below 50 km and the mean power required for maintaining speed is quite low, but the system has to be able to both provide long range and high maximum power for acceleration. READ MORE

23. On Optimization Based Control of Distributed Energy Resources in Power Systems: Electricity Markets and Voltage Regulation Perspectives
Abstract : Distributed energy resources are increasingly being integrated into power systems around the world. These resources, typically connected at the distribution system level, are already changing the pattern of power flow from being unidirectional to multidirectional. READ MORE

24. Mesoporous Materials for Fast Charging Electrochemical Energy Storage
Abstract : High performing electrochemical energy storage (EES) devices are needed to cope with the increasing energy requirements of modern society. Electrode materials must store lots of energy, charge/discharge fast and be environmentally friendly. READ MORE

25. Optimal Energy and Flexibility Dispatch of Grid-Connected Microgrids
Abstract : This thesis proposes an optimization model to efficiently schedule energy and flexibilities of a grid-connected microgrid (MG) with non-dispatchable renewable energy sources and battery energy storages (BESs). The model can also be used to coordinate the MG operation with the connected upstream distribution grid and to assess the MG flexibility considering economic viability, technical feasibility, and BES degradation.
