  1. 1. Late Cenozoic Geoarchives from Lake Baikal, Siberia

    Author : Tomasz Sapota; Ala Aldahan; Göran Possnert; Ihsan Al-Aasm; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Quaternary geology; Lake Baikal; Be-10 isotope; chronology; paleoclimate; tectonics; geomagnetic field; cosmic rays; Kvartärgeologi; Quaternary geology; Kvartärgeologi;

    Abstract : Three long sediment cores (BDP-98 – 600 m, BDP-96 – 200 m and BDP-93 – 100 m) drilled in Lake Baikal (Siberia) have been studied with the aims of establishing an absolute chronology and reconstructing paleoclimatic and paleoenvironmental changes in the region. The location of the lake at relatively high latitude and continental interior and a thick continuous sedimentary archive that developed in a rift system tectonic setting provide unique material for this investigation. 2. 2. Atmospheric Production and Transport of Cosmogenic 7Be and 10Be

    Author : Abdulhadi Kulan; Ala Aldahan; Göran Possnert; Raimund Muscheler; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Earth sciences; Aerosols; Atmosphere; Cosmogenic Be-7 and Be-10; Cs-137; Clouds; Sweden; Europe; Geovetenskap;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the atmospheric distribution of the cosmogenic isotopes 7Be (half-life 53 days) and 10Be (half-life 1.51 million years) as well as the anthropogenic isotope 137Cs (half-life 30 years) in aerosols and precipitation. READ MORE

  3. 3. Mercury and dioxins in a MercOx-scrubber

    Author : Carl-Johan Löthgren; Bert Allard; Bert van Bavel; Sven Andersson; Ivars Neretnieks; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; waste incineration; flue gas cleaning; PCDD PCDF; PBDD PBDF; wet scrubber; Chemistry; Kemi; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : The removal of mercury and the absorption of dioxins in an acid wet scrubber have been studied in industrial scale. Hydrogen peroxide is added as an oxidizing agent to the scrubber liquid with the purpose to remove SO2 and enhance the removal of mercury. READ MORE

  4. 4. Resistance to activated protein C a novel risk factor for venous thrombosis

    Author : Peter Svensson; Malmö Klinisk koagulationsmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; APC resistance; mutation; venous thrombosis; blood coagulation; Protein C; factor V; Haematology; extracellular fluids; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor;

    Abstract : Activated protein C resistance (APC resistance) is the most common hereditary condition associated with venous thrombosis. The syndrome known as APC resistance is perfectly linked to a mutation in the gene coding coagulation FV (FV:Q506) mutation changing Arg 506 to Gln in the APC cleavage site. READ MORE

  5. 5. Powder-metallurgical processing and phase separation in ternary transition metal carbides

    Author : Taoran Ma; Joakim Odqvist; Peter Hedström; Hans-Olof Andren; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Abstract : Ternary transition metal cubic carbides have high hardness and are potential carbides in cemented carbide and cermet tools, as well as hard coatings used to improve metal cutting performance. In the present work, (Ti,Zr)C, (V,Nb)C, and (V,Ta)C ternary cubic carbides were synthesized using traditional powder-metallurgical methods. READ MORE
