  1. 21. Development of visible spectroscopic techniques for applications in plasma diagnostics

    Author : Katarzyna Jakubowska; Elisabeth Rachlew-Källne; Per Brusell; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : In this thesis visible spectroscopy is developed and used for two applications. Studies of motional Stark effect spectra for diagnosing the current distribution in the fusion plasmas with two different spectroscopic diagnostic systems: ratiometry and interferometry. READ MORE

  2. 22. Neutron Spectrometry Techniques for Fusion Plasmas : Instrumentation and Performance

    Author : Erik Andersson Sundén; Göran Ericsson; Sean Conroy; Erik Traneus; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fusion; plasma diagnostics; neutron spectrometry; neutron spectroscopy; MPRu; magnetic proton recoil spectrometer; fusion; ITER; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Fysik med inriktning mot tillämpad kärnfysik; Physics with specialization in Applied Nuclear Physics;

    Abstract : Neutron are emitted from a deuterium plasma with energies around 2.5 MeV. The neutron spectrum is intimately related to the ion velocity distribution of the plasma. As a consequence, the analysis of neutron energy spectra can give information of the plasma rotation, the ion temperature, heating efficiency and fusion power. READ MORE

  3. 23. Diagnosing Fuel Ions in Fusion Plasmas using Neutron Emission Spectroscopy

    Author : Carl Hellesen; Göran Ericsson; Sean Conroy; William W Heidbrink; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fusion; plasma diagnostics; neutron spectroscopy; NBI heating; ICRF heating; energetic ions; Fusion; Fusion; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Applied Nuclear Physics; Tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Abstract : Neutron emission spectra, measured with the time of flight spectrometer TOFOR, at the joint European torus (JET) are presented in this thesis. TOFOR has been in use since 2005, routinely measuring the neutron emission from JET plasmas. READ MORE

  4. 24. Neutron Emission Spectrometry for Fusion Reactor Diagnosis : Method Development and Data Analysis

    Author : Jacob Eriksson; Göran Ericsson; Carl Hellesen; Sean Conroy; Andreas Dinklage; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fusion; plasma diagnostics; neutron spectrometry; TOFOR; MPRu; tokamak; JET; fast ions; fuel ion density; relativistic kinematics; Fysik med inriktning mot tillämpad kärnfysik; Physics with specialization in Applied Nuclear Physics;

    Abstract : It is possible to obtain information about various properties of the fuel ions deuterium (D) and tritium (T) in a fusion plasma by measuring the neutron emission from the plasma. Neutrons are produced in fusion reactions between the fuel ions, which means that the intensity and energy spectrum of the emitted neutrons are related to the densities and velocity distributions of these ions. 5. 25. Atomic Spectroscopy for Applications in Energy Technology

    Author : Thomas Lennartsson; Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; atomic structure; plasma diagnostics; branching fractions; gas discharges; highly charged ions; extreme ultraviolet spectra; time-resolved spectroscopy;

    Abstract : This thesis intends to provide spectroscopic information which may be of use in the investigation of low-density plasmas. Developed since the 19th century, the spectroscopic approach has proven to be a versatile method for measuring properties in hot gases, such as electron and ion temperatures and densities, the abundance of various elements in the gas, etc. READ MORE
