  3. 13. Experiments on mutual neutralization using storage rings with merged ion beams

    Author : Gustav Eklund; Henning T Schmidt; Henrik Cederquist; Ansgar Simonsson; Daniel W. Savin; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mutual neutralization; storage rings; merged beams; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis presents work on merged-beams experiments using the DESIREE facility, which consists of two electrostatic ion-storage rings operated at cryogenic temperatures of about 13 K. The two storage rings have a common straight section, where oppositely charged ions can interact at sub-eV collision energies. READ MORE

  4. 14. Free cooling in commercial buildings. Application with evaporative cooling tower and chilled beams

    Author : Bengt Bergsten; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; cooling tower; commercial buildings; simulation; low energy cooling; evaporative cooling; hydronic cooling system; internal heat gain; free cooling; chilled beams; methodology;

    Abstract : The use of electricity in commercial buildings has increased over the last decades. One major cause is the rapid escalation of air conditioning equipment together with a growth of internal heat gains originating mainly from an increased amount of office equipment, which also use electric energy, and high levels of solar irradiation. 5. 15. Bridge Overhang Slabs with Edge Beams : LCCA and Structural Analysis for the Development of New Concepts

    Author : José Javier Veganzones Muñoz; Costin Pacoste; Raid Karoumi; Lars Pettersson; Rui Vaz Rodrigues; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Overhang slab; Edge beam; Life-cycle Cost Analysis; Non-linear FE-analysis; Design methods; Shear force; Failure mode; Effective width; Minimal width.; Konsolplattor; Kantbalkar; Livscykelkostnadsanalys; Icke-linjär FE-analys; Dimensioneringsmetoder; Tvärkrafter; Brott; Fördelningsbredd; Minimal bredd.; Bro- och stålbyggnad; Structural Engineering and Bridges;

    Abstract : Bridge edge beams are associated with high life-cycle costs because of the need of maintenance, which also causes traffic disturbances. For this reason, the Swedish Transport Administration started a project to find better solutions. One of the proposals was a design without edge beam. READ MORE
