  2. 2. The mobility of natural uranium at Forsmark, Sweden, through geologic time

    Author : Lindsay Krall; Carl-Magnus Mörth; David Read; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; uranium; radium; mineralogy; geochronology; submarine groundwater discharge; spent nuclear fuel; geochemical modelling; Geology; geologi;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the response of uranium minerals and poorly crystalline phases to changes in geochemical conditions through geological time has been assessed in order to understand the mobility of natural uranium in the fracture network of a proposed site for a spent nuclear fuel repository in Forsmark, Sweden. Identification and characterization of solid phase uranium have been performed through electron microprobe analysis and optical petrography (Article I). READ MORE

  3. 3. Environmental and climatic aspects of the early to mid Holocene calcareous tufa and land mollusc fauna in southern Sweden

    Author : Björn Gedda; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; southern Sweden; environment; climate; Early Holocene; Calcareous tufa; mollusc; Skåne.; Geology; physical geography; Geologi; fysisk geografi;

    Abstract : Although deposition of freshwater calcium carbonates, tufa, has occurred in large areas with carbonate soil or bedrock in Sweden, no tufa formation has been observed in Sweden. To better understand the factors controlling tufa formation in southern Sweden, bio- and lithostratigraphical studies were carried out on (paludal) calcareous tufa deposits in the province of Skåne. Abstract : New results are presented from the investigation of relative sea-level changes in the Nanortalik and Qaqortoq-Narsarsuaq areas in SW Greenland from c. 11 000 cal. years BP to the present. READ MORE

  5. 5. Geology, alterations and mineral chemistry of the Tjårrojåkka Fe-oxide Cu-Au occurrences, northern Sweden

    Author : Åsa Edfelt; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Malmgeologi; Ore Geology;

    Abstract : The Tjårrojåkka area is located about 50 km WSW of Kiruna, northern Sweden, and hosts one of the best examples of spatially related Fe-oxide Cu-Au occurrences (the Tjårrojåkka-Fe and Tjårrojåkka-Cu). The bedrock, depositional environment and tectonic evolution of the area were studied through petrological, geochemical and geophysical-petrophysical investigations. READ MORE
