  1. 1. Performance Assessment of Wastewater Treatment Plants : Multi-Objective Analysis Using Plant-Wide Models

    Author : MAGNUS ARNELL; Ulf Jeppsson; Bengt Carlsson; Hans Bertil Wittgren; Diego Rosso; Industriell elektroteknik och automation; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; benchmarking; BSM; samrötning; energieffektivitet; växthusgasutsläpp; livscykelanalys; matematisk modellering; avloppsvattenrening; benchmarking; BSM; codigestion; energy efficiency; greenhouse gases; life cycle assessment; mathematical modelling; wastewater treatment; benchmarking;

    Abstract : As the knowledge about anthropogenic impacts of climate change has grown, the awareness of the contributions from treatment of wastewater has widened the scope for wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). Not only shall ever stricter effluent constraints be met, but also energy efficiency be increased, greenhouse gases mitigated and resources recovered. READ MORE

  2. 2. Early detection of major surgical postoperative complications evaluated by microdialysis

    Author : Tal Hörer; Kjell Janson; Lars Norgren; Bengt Jeppsson; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; aortic occlusion balloon; anastomotic leakage; glycerol; intraabdominal hypertension; intraperitoneal microdialysis; intestinal ischemia; intraabdominal metabolism; lactate pyruvate ratio; postoperative complications; ruptured abdominal aortic anerusym; Kirurgi; Surgery;

    Abstract : Major abdominal surgery may be followed by postoperative complications, especially in the elderly and patients with co morbidities as diabetes mellitus and obesity. Some of the most feared complications as anastomotic leakage, abdominal infections, abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) and intestinal ischemia can lead to sepsis, systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) with high morbidity and mortality. 3. 3. Studies of Experimental Bacterial Translocation

    Author : Anders Stenbäck; Cecilia Johnsson; Staffan Meurling; Bengt Jeppsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; Intestinal barrier; short bowel syndrome; small bowel transplantation; mesenteric lymph nodes; gadolinium chloride; T cell inactivation; glutamine; phosphatidylcholine; rat; Thiry-Vella loop; Kirurgi; Surgery; Kirurgi;

    Abstract : One of the main obstacles to maintaining patients with short bowel syndrome on parenteral nutrition, or successfully transplanting these patients with a small bowel graft, is the many severe infections that occur. Evidence is accumulating that translocating bacteria from the patient’s bowel causes a significant part of these infections. READ MORE
