  1. 1. Pheomelanin markers in melanoma with reference to their excretion into urine

    Author : Dzeneta Nezirevic Dernroth; Bertil Kågedal; Christer Hansson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pheomelanin; melanoma; benzothiazole; aminohydroxyphenylalanine; diffuse melanosis; HILIC; Clinical chemistry; Klinisk kemi;

    Abstract : Skin pigmentation is an important issue in most cultures. Until recently we have not understood the most important elements of pigmentation regarding detailed chemical structure. READ MORE

  2. 2. Application of copper corrosion inhibitors in mineral oil : Surface analytical studies and corrosion mitigation evaluations

    Author : Martina Levin; Christofer Leygraf; Per Redelius; Roy Johnsen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : This doctoral thesis explores the copper corrosion inhibiting properties of a number of nitrogen containing hetero-organic compounds in refined mineral oil. Traditional organic corrosion inhibitors, as well as novel and bioorganic compounds have been studied. READ MORE

  3. 3. Textile Related Chemicals: Analytical Approaches Towards the Assessment of Human and Environmental Exposures

    Author : Francesco Iadaresta; Conny Östman; Carlo Crescenzi; Jan Holmbäck; Peter Haglund; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; graphitized carbon black- GCB; franz cell; diffusion cell; risk assessment; screening; textile; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : The textile manufacturing chain involves an extensive use of chemicals as early as fabric-production. To confer special features to textile materials, more chemicals are required in subsequent steps. Furthermore, potentially harmful substances can end up in clothes as transformation products. 4. 4. Amyloid imaging in Alzheimer’s disease and mild cognitive impairment by positron emission tomography

    Author : Anton Forsberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Effectiveness of future treatment strategies in Alzheimer s disease (AD) will rely on early detection of disease and the possibility to clearly evaluate their effects. The findings presented in this thesis concerns both early in vivo detection of amyloid deposition in the brains of patients at risk of developing AD and the longitudinal changes of pathological and functional parameters in patients with AD. 5. 5. Environmentally Degradable Polyethylene : Effects of Additives and Environment on the Degradation and Degradation products

    Author : Farideh Khabbaz; KTH; []
    Keywords : LDPE; polyethylene; oxidative degradation; photo-oxidation; thermo-oxidation; degradation products; photosensitisers; pro-oxidant; starch; master-batch; gas chromatography mass-spectrometry; GC-MS; solid phase microextraction; SPME;

    Abstract : This thesis summarises and compares the influences ofdifferent additives (photosensitisers, pro-oxidants, abiodegradable filler) on blown low-density polyethylene (LDPE)films during photo- and thermal degradation with respect tochemical changes in the polymer matrices and identifieddegradation products. Additives studied were irondimethyldithiocarbamate (FeDMC), nickel dibutyldithocarbamate(NiDBC), carbon black, starch, a pro-oxidant that consisted ofmanganese stearate together with styrene butadiene rubber (SBR)or natural rubber (NR) and a master batch containing linearLDPE, starch and pro-oxidant.
