1. Porphyrins and heme in microorganisms : Porphyrin content and its relation to phototherapy and antimicrobial treatments in vivo and in vitro
Abstract : One of the greatest threats to human health is increasing antimicrobial resistance among pathogens, and finding alternatives for treatment of bacterial infections is of highest importance together with a more controlled use of antibiotics. Porphyrins and heme have both been shown to be a promising class of compounds for inactivation of bacteria; porphyrins by their excellent properties to act as a photosensitizer, and heme by its importance as an iron source during a bacterial infection in vertebrates. 2. Development of Techniques and Methods for the Quantitative Analysis of Endogenous Substances by Microcolumn Liquid Chromatography Coupled to Mass Spectrometry
Abstract : Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) is a powerful technique for the analysis of endogenous compounds. The introduction of electrospray ionization (ESI) as an interface between LC and MS has contributed strongly to a trend towards miniaturization of LC, due to the possibility to perform ESI at low flow rates. 3. Characterisation of Chromatography Media Aimed for Purification of Biomolecules
Abstract : Chromatography media (resins) are very important for and widely used by the biopharma industry in large scale production of biopharmaceuticals, e.g. monoclonal antibodies. Today there are several hundred biopharmaceuticals released globally on the healthcare market. READ MORE

4. Quantitative Bioanalysis : Liquid separations coupled to targeted mass spectrometric measurements of bioactive compounds
Abstract : Performing quantitative analysis of targeted bioactive compounds in biological samples, such as blood plasma, cerebrospinal fluid or extracts from pig liver, put high demands on the ruggedness of the method acquiring the results. In addition to the complexity of the sample matrix, the bioactive compounds targeted for analysis usually have low levels of natural abundance, further increasing the demand on the analytical method sensitivity.
