  1. 1. The zoo-geomorphological impact of fossorial rodents in sub-polar alpine environments

    Author : Bert Eriksson; Jan Boelhowers; John Östh; Hanna Ridefelt; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; zoo-geomorphology; fossorial rodents; sub-polar; alpine; geomorphic work; ecosystem engineers; Physical geography; Naturgeografi; Geography; Geografi;

    Abstract : The geomorphological impact of small fossorial mammals (adapted to digging and living underground), such as rodents can be significant, and both their direct and indirect effects may contribute to landscape formation. This thesis is based on empirical field studies of two burrowing rodent species in sub-polar environments, namely invasive House mice (Mus musculus) on sub-Antarctic Marion Island and Norwegian lemmings (Lemmus lemmus) in sub-Arctic Abisko. 2. 2. DNA repair and genome organisation in mammalian cells : studies involving single-cell electrophoresis

    Author : Stefan Eriksson; Bert van Zeeland; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical Biology; fysikalisk biologi;

    Abstract : The comet assay (single-cell electrophoresis) is a comparably new method for measurement of DNA strand breakage, primarily in eukaryotic cells. Its main advantage is that it works on the single-cell level, making it possible to detect heterogeneity in DNA damage induction and repair. READ MORE

  3. 3. Contribution of polyfluoroalkyl phosphate esters (PAPs) and other precursor compounds to perfluoroalkyl carboxylates (PFCAs) in humans and the environment

    Author : Ulrika Eriksson; Anna Kärrman; Bert van Bavel; Gunilla Lindström; Jonathan Martin; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PAPs; precursors; PFCA; exposure; indoor dust; human serum; WWTP; bird eggs; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : Per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are anthropogenic compounds that have been spread all over the world. The use of fluorotelomer compounds, short-chained homologues, and other PFASs with perfluorinated moieties has emerged recent years. READ MORE

  4. 4. Magnetization dynamics of complex magnetic materials by atomistic spin dynamics simulations

    Author : Raghuveer Chimata; Biplab Sanyal; Olle Eriksson; Koopmans Bert; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ultrafast remagnetization; ultrafast dynamics; magnetism; multiferroics; amorphous alloys; DFT; spinels magnetostriction; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Abstract : In recent years, there has been an intense interest in understanding the microscopic mechanism of laser induced ultrafast magnetization dynamics in picosecond time scales. Magnetization switching on such a time scale has potential to be a significant boost for the data storage industry. READ MORE

  5. 5. Dialectics of Negotiagency : Micro Mechanisms in Children’s Negotiation in Play Activity

    Author : Mimmi Waermö; Inger Eriksson; Ylva Ståhle; Viveca Lindberg; Bert van Oers; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; activity theory; agency; breaktime; children; collectividual; cultural historical activity theory; demands; development; double stimulation; enculturation; motives; negotiagency; negotiation; play; transformation; Didactics; didaktik;

    Abstract : This study is about the children in a fourth and fifth grade Swedish primary school class and their play during breaktimes. The study takes the theoretical point of departure in seeing children’s breaktime play as a cultural historical activity. READ MORE
