  1. 1. Circumventing drug resistance : Studies exploring the expediency of a total cell kill chemoresistance assay

    Author : Bertil Jonsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Medical sciences; drug resistance; drug resistance assay; clinical correlations; cancer; human; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; klinisk farmakologi; Clinical Pharmacology;

    Abstract : Cellular resistance to anti-cancer drugs is considered to be the major cause of treatment failure in clinical practice. The present studies have therefore focused on ways to circumvent resistance as evaluated by an in vitro chemoresistance assay. READ MORE

  2. 2. Interaction between humans and car seats : studies of occupant seat adjustment, posture, position, and real world neck injuries in rear-end impacts

    Author : Bertil Jonsson; Ulf Björnstig; Mats Svensson; Anders Kullgren; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : Surgery; backset; Whiplash; rear-end impact; seated posture; seated position; bioRID; Kirurgi; Surgery; kirurgi;

    Abstract : Background: The latest generation of rear-end whiplash protection systems, as found in the WHIPS Volvo and SAHR Saab, have reduced injury rates by almost 50% in comparison with the previous generation of seat/head restraint systems. Occupant behaviour, such as seated posture and seat adjustment settings, may affect the injury risk. READ MORE

  3. 3. Pressure sore etiology - highlighted with optical measurements of the blood flow

    Author : Annika Jonsson; Ylva Bäcklund; Maria Lindén; Margareta Lindgren; Bertil Hök; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electronics; Elektronik; Elektronik;

    Abstract : In line with the quality awareness of good prevention of pressure sores and in treatment of those sores already developed, evaluation of antidecubitus mattresses plays an important role. However, there are shortages in the evaluations performed today, since often interface pressure is the only parameter regarded. READ MORE

  4. 4. High performance fiber-optic interconnection networks for real-time computing systems

    Author : Magnus Jonsson; Bertil Svensson; Timothy M. Pinkston; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fiber-optic communication; real-time communication; Computer engineering; Datorteknik;

    Abstract : Parallel and distributed computing systems become more and more powerful and hence place increasingly higher demands on the networks that interconnect their processors or processing nodes. Many of the applications running on such systems, especially embedded systems applications, have real-time requirements and, with increasing application demands, high-performance networks are the hearts of these systems. Abstract : Background and aimsHeart failure (HF) is a major cause of serious morbidity and death in the population and one of the leading medical causes of hospitalization among people older than 60 years. The aim of this thesis was to describe how to create and how to analyze a Heart Failure Registry with emphasis on Anemia and Quality of Life. READ MORE
